Hello Christian Garry here ... this is a serious post ...
last week we posted about a Liverpool organisation called Positive Impact who had recently put on a fabulous show championing music from Liverpool
This organisation was started 25 years ago by the wonderful Phillips sisters mainly Barbara looking after all things creative & production and Sue overseeing the thinly stretched finances (Pippa & Miles mum). The sisters (from a very rich heritage ... both daughters of the famous first mentor/manager/driver of The Beatles in their Hamburg days) work tirelessly to benefit the growth of young talent right here in the city
Positive Impact has grown some incredible talent over the years with MiC LOWRY and many others first finding their feet under the guidance of Barbara Phillips.
Unbelievably there has been NO government or council funding and no recognition for this incredible hot bed of talent ... its all done out of love and dedication and i think we need to change that
i asked Barbara about her current projects in this the 25th anniversary of Positive Impact....
'It's 25 years since we set up Positive Impact, with hardly any financial support from the City. Earlier this year the kids passed the audition to perform at Disney Florida... So, as a special celebration we are taking the kids (and a parent) to America to perform on a Disney Stage this year October half term. It's a fantastic opportunity for our kids which I think will be really life changing for some of them. The parents are paying for flights, but we are raising funds for everything else. Accommodation is now paid for, but we still need to raise money for Food and Park Tickets ( which you have to purchase in order to perform). So if you know anyone who supports disadvantaged kids or simply has 'deep pockets' lol... Can you tell them about our gofundme campaign?
