So, on a somewhat artsy fartsy vein, Rupert has recently released his debut poetry anthology, A Modern Day Albion:
A Modern Day Albion is the debut poetry anthology from Lincolnshire based poet, Rupert S P Ibbotson. It is a collection of eighteen poems that are, in one form or another, linked to the notion of Albion [an archaic and romanticised term for Britain/England, typically used when referring to ancient or historical times], and what Albion means to Rupert in a 21st Century Context, as "A Modern Day Albion". The collection is in no way intended to belittle or degrade the country of England, or any other individual’s personal opinions towards said country, but rather to enable Rupert to reconnect with the country of England, and rediscover the many wonderful, absurd, and sometimes outright bizarre things that he loves about this country he currently calls home. It is his hope that in reading this collection, the reader may also discover some things about this country that will positively contribute towards their personal vision of "A Modern Day Albion" and, resultingly, their connection to the country of England.
He is officially launching the anthology at The Pessimist Wine Bar & Restaurant in Lincoln on 4th December, though copies can officially be purchased from Amazon now!
Here's one of the early reviews for the anthology:
"I'm not really one for poetry, so don't expect any fascinating insight into the way the prose flows, or critique of the lack of iambic pentameter (or other poetry things that I as a layman don't understand).
I enjoyed it, and it made me feel... I don't know how much more I can recommend this short but intriguing collection.
The blend of old myth and legend contrasted perfectly with the modern and sometimes bleak settings.
10/10 will be recommending!"
