Beyond the streets exhibition. Worth a visit. Overall enjoyable and plenty to spark further research. I'm not sure on some of the key influences cited to be honest. Much like any scene retrospectives there tends to be a London-centric bias. But then these movements were chaotic and documentation is fragmented. I was surprised at seeing McClaren cited as such a catalyst for the scene, whilst I was pretty young at the time and following through friends who were deep into it, at the time I thought he was seen as more as jumping on the trend Vs driving it.

My wall of sound continues to build up nicely.

I've been gradually bringing my vinyl down and topping up with additions from local shops - the amazing (new vinyl) and Rock Bottom Records who stock an extensive selection of 2nd hand funk, soul, disco (original 7"s and 12"s) as well as lots of rock and rarities. You can easily spend an afternoon in both!

Enjoying working out a very loose filing system and changing the look by rotating the back covers.

We will be playing some funk, soul, disco and reggae at the Pembroke Road, E17 summer street party tomorrow. The raffle has some crackin' prizes from local businesses and I promise the music will be top-notch, all welcome!
