Levenshulme Market is currently closed for its annual winter hibernation BUT don't fear we will be back with a bang from Saturday 4th March. Make sure it's in your diary! 📖

In the meantime we thought it would be nice to reflect on 2022 and what we achieved together ❤️

It was a challenging year for small businesses and Levenshulme as a whole - having to continually adapt to a post-pandemic world.

We are so proud of all our traders who continued to prove their innovative talent and inspirational drive through such a challenging time. We are equally grateful and touched by the continued support of our Levy community that show up come rain or shine to support and champion independent business. Thank you! 🙌

You may have to patiently wait until March to see Ashbys greengrocer return to Levenshulme Market... but do not fear as there's no need to go without your weekly fruit and veg goodness! 🙌

THIS WEEK Ashby's Greengrocer launch their organic fruit and vegetable box subscription service! Straight from the farm to your door weekly or fortnightly 🤗

So how does it work?

1) Open the link - https://www.ashbysgroceries.com/fruit-and-veg-boxes

2) Select your box size and frequency - small (£15), medium (£20), large (£25) to be delivered weekly or fortnightly. All sustainably sourced, packaged and as seasonal as possible 🍎

3) You can also add organic eggs and freshly baked soughdough bread to your delivery 🍞 🥚

4) Select delivery postcode for free delivery or choose to collect from their Sale store on a day of your choice. Levy deliveries are on Thursdays!

New year, new job?

We're recruiting a part-time Senior Market Operations Coordinator!

This role is integral to making our market happen - leading our onsite team to prepare, oversee and roll-out our weekly market event!

The successful candidate will…

- Supervise the setting up of equipment on market day
- Supervise the work of casual staff and provide an authoritative lead on market day
- First point of contact for market traders arriving on site and supporting with a high standard of customer service
-Devise, review and plan layouts for markets to meet operational needs
-Manage the staff rotas of onsite support staff
-Create social media content on market days
-Monitor and maintain equipment
-Feedback to market directors and market manager on the market event, highlighting any concerns or feedback
-Manage third party operational contracts
-Responsible for ensuring the health and safety policy and risk assessment documentation is accurate and adhered to

This role is quite physical and outdoors in all weather conditions - our market runs come rain or shine!

We’re looking for someone with…

- Experience in manual handling and erecting equipment
-Good level of physical fitness / strength for manual work
-Experience of prioritising and organising own workload to meet deadlines
-Experience in supervising staff
-Experience in maintaining and understanding electrical equipment
-An understanding of risk assessments and health and safety policies

£12 - £13 per hour
15 hours per week
(9 hours onsite, 6 hours remote)

🧀 So tomorrow is not only our last market of the year but it’s also the last Levy Market of one of our longest standing traders.

Jeremy from Winter Tarn Cheese is a Levy Market legend. He’s everybody’s favourite cheese man and has been with us from the beginning. But after 9 years of providing us with a little slice of diary heaven - in the shape of beautiful British cheeses, enormous eggs and the best butter in the land, all good things must come to an end.

As Jeremy say’s... “It’s time”.

We want to say a MASSIVE thank you to Jeremy and the Winter Tarn team. We’re really going to miss you…the banter, the pipe, those double yolkers and that cheeky grin. The place won’t be the same without you!

We’ve loved hearing the background behind the cheese you sell and your passion and commitment to local quality produce has always shone through. Thank you for the stories, recommendations and tasters.

Everyone knows that the most important part of the Christmas season is the cheese board. And we know that the Winter Tarn queue is always OFF THE CHART at our last Christmas market of the year, so we suggest getting down early tomorrow to grab your festive fromage and give Jeremy a big squeeze.

And fear not cheese fans, you won’t go empty handed in the new year. We’re hatching a plan to meet all your cheesy needs in 2023. Keep your eyes peeled for more news soon. 👀

This Friday we have the long awaited Amateur Hour DJ set getting their rave on in the Levenshulme station car park!

Later on ravers can carry on with Amatuer night afters Overdraught or hop over to The Gherkin for Red Laser records touching down with the mothership. Levy is getting a proper treat this Friday 🙌

And if that's not enough we have The Levenshulme Community Choir kicking it all off from 6pm with all your favourite Xmas Carols and other classics.

Featuring some Manchester's best craft food and artisan makers of gifts, cheese, rum, gin, hot mulled cider, sweet treats, vintage clothes and much more.
