We're looking for a 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁! 📣

Light Up Leigh is looking for a creative and enthusiastic Craft Assistant to support the delivery of our 2026 Light Up Leigh parade, taking place on Saturday 14th November ⭐

This freelance role will primarily involve assisting with the creation and preparation of craft-based artworks and installations. There may also be opportunities to support public workshops, acting as a second artist/facilitator for larger groups when required.

We're looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on, is organised and reliable, and is confident working as part of a creative team 🎨

𝗧𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀: 5 (flexible between 1 October - 13 November, time may be split into half days. Must be available on Saturday 14 November for event day)
𝗙𝗲𝗲: £180 per day (£900 total)
𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Based in Leigh, specific locations TBC

We're looking for an 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁 for 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗨𝗽 𝗟𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲! 📣

Down to Earth is seeking an artist to design and deliver a brand new section of this year's annual Light Up Leigh parade.

Bring Leigh's stories to life through an exciting new part of the parade, or by reimagining our existing 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 theme. Inspired by conversations with local residents, the commission offers the opportunity to explore rich heritage, canal-side history, treasured traditions and more, creating a bold and unforgettable addition to the spectacular lantern parade.

⭐ Create one large scale "hero" parade piece
⭐ Develop smaller lanterns, props and sculptural elements
⭐ Co-create with local communities and groups
⭐ Design for an outdoor, evening parade
⭐ Use sustainable, reclaimed and reusable materials where possible

𝗙𝗲𝗲: £8,000 (inclusive of all artist fees, materials, production costs, expenses and VAT if applicable)

As well as a 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲, belting night out full of live music, good food and creative activities, you'll have the opportunity to help shape this year's 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗨𝗽 𝗟𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵 - from sharing your ideas on the parade route and how we celebrate our community, to deciding what you'd like to see to help make it the biggest and brightest yet ⭐
