Old Ash Art A wildlife and pet portrait artist, based in the West Country and inspired by the nature of the Fens. She exhibits around the country and works to commission.

A childhood spent in Cambridgeshire’s Fenland gave Rachel her love of the countryside. The haunting beauty of the Fens also inspired her passion for drawing and painting. Now based in Herefordshire’s beautiful market town of Ledbury, Rachel’s mixed media art has a contemporary feel that charms all ages. Rachel also donates her time and talent to raise funds for great causes that include Racing Welfare and Care International UK.

Here you can see how the finished painting is built up from layer upon layer of different tones and colours, using varying amounts of paint and water. While I paint, I hold in mind the animal and imagine their character. That's why I always like to know their name ❤️

Really enjoyed the Common Senses exhibition today at Canwood Gallery, near Hereford. It was good to see the work of some very talented artists that I had the pleasure of working alongside at . I particularly loved the way each have retained their own inimitable style from before, but had developed and refined so much since then.
