Old Ash Art A wildlife and pet portrait artist, based in the West Country and inspired by the nature of the Fens. She exhibits around the country and works to commission.

A childhood spent in Cambridgeshire’s Fenland gave Rachel her love of the countryside. The haunting beauty of the Fens also inspired her passion for drawing and painting. Now based in Herefordshire’s beautiful market town of Ledbury, Rachel’s mixed media art has a contemporary feel that charms all ages. Rachel also donates her time and talent to raise funds for great causes that include Racing Welfare and Care International UK.

Really enjoyed the Common Senses exhibition today at Canwood Gallery, near Hereford. It was good to see the work of some very talented artists that I had the pleasure of working alongside at . I particularly loved the way each have retained their own inimitable style from before, but had developed and refined so much since then.

Here's a painting from my newest, never-been-seen series, 'The Kiss of the Sun', inspired by Dorothy Frances Gurney's poem, 'God's Garden'. Each painting features a garden bird on a gold background, with a 'gold leaf' halo/sun in the style of a stained glass window, the diverging lines contained within a handmade, wooden frame.

The canvas size is either 15 or 20cm and they are fitted with 'd' rings and wire, ready to hang.

I'm making a little frame for my starling painting! I'm not a framing expert like the fabulous , but I haven't been able to stop planning this frame in my head for weeks! I gathered all of the equipment I needed, and I'm now very much enjoying getting stuck in to the process.
