So incredibly proud, loved seeing Bhaktiโ€™s, her gf and friends hard work. All amazing! So much creativity, reflection and hard work.

I remember taking Bhakti to my uni classes during half terms, she was such a thoughtful, quiet and helpful girl, making it easy for me to do my education. I used to love bringing her in, while she sat there drawing quietly during lectures.

Now sheโ€™s done it for herself! ๐Ÿ’— love her kindness, creativity and dedication ๐ŸŒธ

My eldest ._.tikka has finished uni today! Iโ€™m so incredibly proud of her for everything sheโ€™s achieved!

Dropping her off on Plymouth 3 years ago felt like I was going to be without her for forever, and now sheโ€™s completed uni, done fabulously, worked hard, built a life for herself independently. Even though it must have been such a big deal moving to a city so far from home, she really threw herself in and got stuck in, so much braver than I would have been.

Sheโ€™s the sweetest, kindest, thoughtful and creative girl, and now a fully educated, talented, beautiful woman. Beyond proud. Also looking forward to her coming home for a while. Canโ€™t wait to see her exhibition in June and watch her graduate a few months later ๐Ÿ’—

Slightly unhinged things I do before teaching crochet lessons

Ok so thereโ€™s all the normal things for getting ready, backing supplies, having things for demonstration etc. but my biggest concern is nerves. Iโ€™m an introvert, have social anxiety, and incredibly shy. However I also do love being social, talking to people and especially love teaching crochet. Itโ€™s just difficult to be natural and let loose.

So I use these techniques to try and loosen myself up, stretch my vocal cords, feel good, happy, wake myself up.

Ledbury Beginnerโ€™s Crochet Course Finished!

I had such a blast over the last 6 weeks, full of learning, laughter, and wonderful ladies who can now crochet.

Already looking forward to putting together another course. It really gives me a thrill having other people to talk all things crochet with in person. Thank you so much to all of you, so proud of all of you ๐Ÿ’—๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ’š

Getting a straight line on your crochet projects using standing double crochet (dc).

Even though most crochet patterns call for ch3 up the side as a turning chain or the first stitch, you can replace that with a standing double crochet to make the sides look straight, neat and all the stitches look uniform.

Itโ€™s very disheartening whatโ€™s going on right now

Iโ€™m really feeling upset about politics of division winning the numbers right now.

We need to discuss the issues with diversity and politics of hate.

But specifically for small businesses of crocheters, fibre artists, artists, it is disastrous.

This party doesnโ€™t care about you, they only care about the extreme wealth. Which is taking all the ability for you to grow your business.

We have a laugh about customers saying crochet (or knitwear or art) costing too much. But itโ€™s really very big problem. Employees arenโ€™t being paid at the same rate as inflation and the cost of living. So very few people have expendable income to purchase pretty things they like.

We deserve to earn a justified price for the skill and time it takes to create. But we can shout that all we want, if no one has any money, they simply canโ€™t afford the prices.

We need to talk about taxing the wealthy, not just because itโ€™s right, or we believe it, but because our creative business will fold if society and leaders donโ€™t sort this s**t out.

Let this be a part of the artistic communities discussions. Itโ€™s imperative for small creative businesses to survive.
