I'm pleased and honoured that my photograph 'Vira Laurisilva' has been shortlisted for the RPS International Photography Exhibition 167!

The shortlist was publicly announced today at 3 pm. My photo is included in the shortlist gallery; You can see it here:

The competition received over 10,000 entries and I'm very grateful that my image was selected.

Thanks to the Royal Photographic Society for hosting this excellent event with such a prestigious and historic background.

Chaco Canyon is one of my favourite places in the world. Chaco Culture National Historical Park is in northwestern New Mexico, near the Four Corners area. Between AD 900 and 1150, Chaco Canyon was a major cultural centre of the Ancestral Puebloans—thousands of people lived there, and they are all gone now.

It amazes me to think that at the same time Europeans were building castles, the native people in North America were constructing similar kinds of structures.

Exploring Chaco carries a profound sense of spirituality and wonder … I hope to return one day!!

I'm really pleased that my infrared photograph 'Vira Laurisilva' has been shortlisted for the Royal Photographic Society International Photography Exhibition 167. ❤

The competition received nearly 5,300 entries and I'm grateful that my image was selected.

The final round of judging will be done using prints submitted for the shortlisted images. Fingers crossed!! 🤞

How about another mountain landscape …this is Wyoming, the state where I was born.

String Lake with Teewinot Peak in the background, Grand Teton National Park.

I made this photo many years ago, while scouting for a workshop I led in Jackson Hole, along with the great nature photographer Bret Edge.

Looking at this photo, I can still feel the tranquility and solitude.

Something a little different today. I've been thinking about Colorado … this is near Leadville, about an hour's drive from where I lived before moving to the UK. I think this photo really captures the spirit of autumn in the Rockies. I used to really love exploring the abandoned mines and ghost towns!
