Happy National Dog Day! 🐶❤️

At The Annexe, we know that for many of us, a holiday simply isn’t a holiday if our dog can’t come too.

We love welcoming our four-legged guests to the Annexe Airbnb where there’s plenty of countryside to sniff, explore and enjoy.

After a day of adventures, there’s nothing better than heading back to The Annexe, putting your feet up and having your best friend curled up beside you.

Because the best memories are the ones you get to share with the whole family, paws and all.

Happy National Dog Day to every much-loved dog, and to the people lucky enough to call them family. 🐾❤️

Blown away with the kind words of our recent guests Sandra and her boxer dog 🐶 Caddy who stayed with us last week as they attended a boxer training event. As dog lovers, we do try to ensure that out pawsome guests are catered for as much as our human guests.

Chris, Niki and not forgetting their dog Rory were lovely guests and a pleasure to host. They were friendly, considerate and respectful throughout their stay, and communication was easy from start to finish.

Their visit came at a lovely time for us as we were marking seven years since making Beeches Farm our home. It’s been a challenging year in many ways, but having guests like Chris, Niki and Rory come and enjoy this little corner of the world is always a lovely reminder of just how lucky we are to call Beeches Farm home. It really is our own little sanctuary, and no two days here are ever the same.

After a sad a rough start to the week in losing the Harrison girls Lizzie, her sister and Sunny reminded us just how much kindness can mean. Alongside this wonderful review, they left us a handwritten postcard and a donation to our chosen charity for 2026, the British Hen Welfare Trust. We have now passed their generous gift on, and it means more than we can put into words.

Thank you, Lizzie, for your lovely words, your thoughtfulness and for being such wonderful guests. We hope the rest of your Scottish adventure is full of great memories, and Sunny enjoys every mile of it too. ❤️🐔🏡

This week has not started the way we hoped. This morning we had to say goodbye to our Harrison girls after they were taken by foxes.

Harry, Tom and Dick had enjoyed almost a year of freedom. Dorothy, Glinda and Effy had spent three wonderful years roaming the farm. Then there was Houdini. She arrived as a tiny chick nearly eight years ago and never knew anything other than a life of freedom, sunshine, dust baths, treats and curiosity.

It all feels so unnecessary. I know it’s nature and the way of the world, but it’s hard to make sense of lives taken simply to satisfy instinct. Sometimes the world can feel a little cruel. What I do know is this. This morning felt strangely quiet. I missed walking out with your treats. I missed your excited little clucks as you came running over. I missed our morning chat. Thank you for the eggs, the laughter, the entertainment and for reminding us every day that happiness can be found in the simplest things.

Sleep tight, beautiful girls. You were loved far more than you’ll ever know. 🖤 last photo of them enjoying the sunshine last week 🖤

This lovely family spent a week at The Annexe while catching up with family and friends, celebrating their first holiday as a family of three, with their four-legged family members sadly not being able to join them for this trip but being spoiled by grandparents back home. Knowing they could relax in a peaceful rural setting, is exactly why we love sharing our little corner of South Lanarkshire.

Thank you for your wonderful review and for choosing The Annexe for such a special family trip. It was a pleasure to host you all, and we’d be delighted to welcome you back whenever you’re visiting the area again.

If you’re looking for a quiet countryside escape with walks on the doorstep, dog-friendly facilities, and all the comforts of home, we’d love to welcome you too.

Last year this border was little more than a blank space. Now it’s slowly becoming a welcome that feels in keeping with Beeches Farm.

At the same time we planted a rockery on the Annexe garden with plants that provide texture, colour and interest through the seasons. The aim was simple.
Create a warm first impression for our Airbnb guests.
Keep it as low maintenance as possible.

Of course, every gardener knows there’s always a catch! The weeds and ground ivy still think they’re in charge, so the battle continues. It’s lovely to see everything starting to settle in, and we hope our guests enjoy arriving to a space that feels calm, cared for and full of life. Sometimes it’s the little improvements that make the biggest difference. 🌿

There’s something really special about reading a review from guests who have travelled all the way from another country and chosen The Annexe as part of their UK adventure. ❤️

Jeanet and her husband travelled from the Netherlands and left us this lovely 5 star review after their stay.

• Spacious, cosy and modern accommodation
• A fully equipped kitchen with everything they needed
• Fresh eggs from the farm
• Games, puzzles and our record player with LPs
• Friendly communication and local recommendations
• A visit to the beautiful Falls of Clyde at New Lanark, which they loved not forgetting how easy it was to travel into Edinburgh

It’s the little details that matter most to us. Fresh eggs, thoughtful touches, local knowledge and making sure every guest feels at home from the moment they arrive.

If you’re looking for a peaceful countryside escape with beautiful walks, stunning scenery and a comfortable place to relax at the end of the day, we’d love to welcome you.
