Join us on Sunday 28th June at 2PM at Doncaster Little Theatre for a special Sunday Matinee screening of Carnival of Souls, one of the eeriest, strangest and most haunting cult horror films ever made.

Released in 1962 and hugely influential on everything from David Lynch to modern psychological horror, Carnival of Souls is the kind of film that gets under your skin and stays there. πŸ‘» PARENTAL GUIDE: CARNIVAL OF SOULS πŸ‘»

Thinking of joining us for our screening of Carnival of Souls on Sunday 28th June? Here's a quick guide for parents and guardians.

While Carnival of Souls is rated U, it was made in 1962 and remains one of the eeriest and most atmospheric horror films ever created.

What to expect:

πŸ‘» Creepy and unsettling imagery throughout

🎠 A haunting abandoned carnival setting

😱 Occasional frightening appearances from the mysterious "Man"

πŸš— A car accident sequence at the start of the film

πŸ–€ Themes of isolation, death and the supernatural

🩸 No gore, graphic violence or strong language

❀️ No sexual content

The film relies on atmosphere, tension and a feeling that something isn't quite right rather than jump scares or graphic horror. Most older children who enjoy spooky stories should be absolutely fine, but younger viewers who are sensitive to eerie imagery may find some moments unsettling.

If your idea of horror is buckets of blood and endless jump scares, Carnival of Souls isn't that kind of film. It's a chilling, dreamlike experience that helped inspire generations of filmmakers.

πŸŽ™οΈ AVAILABLE NOW πŸŽ™οΈ

Our latest podcast episode is out now, and this month we're heading back to North Shore High for a deep dive into the iconic teen comedy-drama, Mean Girls.

We explore why the film has remained a cultural phenomenon for more than 20 years, its sharp satire of high school social hierarchies, and why audiences continue to quote it to this day.

As always, we've each brought along an associated watch to accompany the main feature:

πŸ“š Donald's pick: Heathers
Chosen for its dark, biting take on teenage popularity and cliques. Without Heathers, it's difficult to imagine Mean Girls becoming the film it did.

🎡 Wesley's pick: Grease
Selected as one of the defining high school films of all time, exploring teenage identity, peer pressure, romance and the desire to fit in.

πŸ—³οΈ Rob's pick: Election
A razor-sharp satire of ambition, popularity and social politics that feels like a natural companion piece to Mean Girls' look at power struggles in school life.

Whether you're a longtime fan or watching Mean Girls again with fresh eyes, there's plenty to discuss.

You can find the podcast through the QR codes above, or simply search **"In The Mood For Film"** on Spotify or Apple Podcasts.

So don't be a Plastic... grab your headphones, hit play, and join the conversation. πŸ’–πŸŽ§

Something exciting is coming this Christmas... πŸŽ„πŸŽ¬

We're now in the final stages of organising our Christmas screening, and this year we'll be bringing it to a brand-new iconic local venue. We can't reveal everything just yet, but trust us when we say it's going to be something special.

As always, we're committed to keeping as much of what we do within our local community as possible, so we're delighted to be working with the fantastic team at AVL Event Production , who will be providing all of our screen and sound services for the event.

Many of you will already know AVL through their continued support of Doncaster Little Theatre , where they generously volunteer their time and expertise. We're thrilled to have them on board and helping us create what promises to be a magical festive cinema experience.

More details coming soon... πŸ‘€πŸŽ…πŸŽ₯
