Big things are happening behind the scenes at the Guildhall! 🚧✨

Over recent weeks, significant progress has been made on site, with scaffolding now installed across the historic buildings to allow safe access for the exciting programme of restoration works ahead.

In a major milestone for the project, the roofs of the main Guildhall and Red Barn, parts of the site dating all the way back to 1401–1405, have now been carefully removed. This important step will allow the team to fully assess and finalise the repairs needed before restoration begins.

Importantly, the historic timbers are being preserved, and the original roofs will be reinstated once essential safety works have been completed and damaged tiles replaced. 🏛️

An exciting new chapter is unfolding for this incredible piece of history… and we can’t wait to share more updates along the way!

National Volunteers Week 💙

This National Volunteers Week, we want to say a huge thank you to our incredible volunteers at St George's Guildhall. 👏

Since January, our dedicated team has contributed more than 800 hours helping to bring this special site to life. Thanks to their passion and commitment, almost 1,400 visitors have enjoyed a warm welcome at 29 King's Street, with every guest greeted by a friendly and enthusiastic volunteer.

Our volunteers come from a wide range of ages and backgrounds, united by a shared love of the Guildhall and its fascinating history. They play a vital role in helping us tell the story of this remarkable building and ensuring every visitor has a memorable experience.

Thank you for everything you do, we simply couldn't do it without you. 💙
