Keswick Alhambra Cinema is one of the oldest, continuously-running cinemas in the UK. We've been screening films since we opened 1914, throughout both World Wars, stopped in our tracks only by Covid-19 in 2020 and 2021. During the closure we took the opportunity to complete the restoration of the cinema, and added a second studio sized screen, together with the latest Dolby sound and digital laser

projector, enabling us to show a significantly wider range of films with appeal to all ages. Independent and family owned and run, we aim to to give you a great experience in a gorgeous setting. We offer a choice of the latest blockbusters, together with niche and arthouse films, and a full range of live broadcasts from the National Theatre, West End shows, Royal Opera and Ballet and the Met Opera from New York.

Friday night is feel-good cinema night this week for sure - at 7.30pm come see the new, uplifting coming of age comedy Sunny Dancer, set in a summer camp for young people living with cancer. Good things happen there, just as they do at Flynne's Barn in Borrowdale, which does something similar in some ways.

All ticket revenue from the screening will go to support Flynne's Barn, and some of the team from there will be attending and afterwards will give their impression of the film and how it compares with what they do, and take any questions from the audience.

Plus we have merchandise to win in a raffle, including t-shirts and tote bags.

Your Friday evening this week could be very uplifting! Join us at 7.30pm for a special screening of the new film SUNNY DANCER, an uplifting and meaningful comedy about young people at a summer camp for people living with cancer.

All the ticket price will go to support the work of the wonderful Flynne's Barn in Borrowdale, a retreat that's similar in some ways, and different in others, to the one in the film.

The team from Flynne's Barn have worked with the film maker and will be on stage after the film to talk about what we've seen, what they do, and how they compare, plus take any questions from the audience.

We have merchandise too to win in a raffle, with t-shirts and tote bags on offer.

It's the final screening of the film DAVID at the Keswick Alhambra today, it was sold out in the small screen so we've moved it to the main auditorium to enable more people to see it at 2.00pm today.

If you're listening to Sara on Radio 2 right now you are hearing about the new film Sunny Dancer - and we have a very special announcement to make - we will be showing the film at 7.30pm on Friday 4th September together with Flynne's Barn, the local cancer retreat in Borrowdale, and ALL the money rasied from ticket sales will go to support the work that's going on there.
Come see a great film, and hear the team from Flynne's Barn on stage afterwards comparing what you've seen in the film with their experience on the ground.
