I managed to record the radio interview from BBC radio kent.
Road safety is so important, especially taking little Leo and Tiny Tim out for a walk as often they are mistaken for dogs!! Despite us waving our signal to slow, people drive by fast which can be very scary in narrow roads.
I have even had people stop, reverse back and wind down the window and apologise saying they thought they were large dogs.
Country lanes should be 30mph or slower, it is scary on the roads especially as we have no bridleways in our area, so roads are our only option. This interview was solely around road safety and lack of bridleways, I spoke from our experience and not on behalf of equestrian, our experiences are so different. But for us, Tegan is a teenager and as a mum it is a huge worry when out hacking. We do not have the luxury of off road hacking, equally being out hacking is so good for our wellbeing and health and children need the outdoors, teaches responsibility, confidence and safety as well as respect for other road users. In addition being out and about makes our horses more trusting, desensitised to varying experiences and in turn makes riding safer. Please take a few minutes out of your day if you see a horse and rider/walker and pass wide and slow, your welfare and ours is our priority, our ponies are our babies too 🥰
