I’ve been having so much fun painting glow in the dark mandala celestial art on a mirror in a new rehearsal space/studio. It’s a totally new medium for me to experiment with and it’s fun to play with colour mixing the glow in the dark pigments.

I’ve been making the majority of my baubles for my mini Christmas tree this year. Behold the mushroom tree! Cif likes it too. I’ve been getting a lot of interest is these little crocheted mushrooms, so I’ll be making some for my shop in various sizes.

After busy days, my energy often runs low. I need quiet — to disconnect, rest, and gently rebuild before stepping back into the world.

Recovery isn’t laziness or avoidance — it’s how we return to balance.
Here are five gentle ways to restore your calm when you feel overstimulated or tired.

What helps you recover your energy?

Every day, I try to start off with some journaling.

It helps me empty my thoughts onto the page — clearing space in my mind to create and move through the day with more ease.
In the past, I’d get frustrated with myself if I missed a day or two. But I’ve realised that journaling isn’t meant to be something I have to do — it’s something I want to do, because it helps me feel better.

Some days, the kindest thing I can do is give myself grace, knowing the notebook will still be there tomorrow.

Do you journal regularly, or just when you need to?

Getting into the flow can be tricky sometimes — but once you find it, tasks suddenly feel so much easier.

Not every day flows smoothly, and that’s okay. What helps me is creating a little ritual around it:
- playing an audiobook, podcast, or soft background video
- setting out plenty of drinks and snacks
- lighting a candle with a scent that helps me feel energised
- focusing only on the next small step — like opening a file or laying out my paints

These small acts help me shift from stuck to flowing. 🌱
What helps you get into your creative flow?

I often struggle to quieten my mind too.

When I feel like that, I try to go somewhere with birdsong, running water, and rustling leaves — something about those natural sounds helps me reconnect.

This is a video I took a few years ago, but I still return to it whenever I need a reminder to pause, breathe, and check in with myself.

Maybe it can be your little nudge today too. 💛
