While some of this year’s photoILKLEY exhibitions have now come to an end, the winning photographs from our Young Photographer Competition are still on display at our valued partner, Ilkley Manor House.

Here is Sienna, one of this year’s talented winners, with her work in the exhibition.

Sienna shared what the experience meant to her:

“I was so excited to win this year’s Young Photographer Competition. I love photography, so seeing my work displayed as part of the exhibition at Ilkley Manor House made me feel incredibly happy and proud. Knowing that other people are seeing and enjoying my photography makes the experience even more special.”

Visit Ilkley Manor House this weekend to discover the next generation of photographers and see the world through their eyes. Ilkley Manor House

Visitors can also take home a small photographic print from the Art Vending Machine, another collaboration between Ilkley Manor House, photoILKLEY and Village Pavilion.

All donations for these lovely small fine art prints will support Ilkley Manor House in continuing to provide space and opportunities for young creatives.

📣 Exhibition Announcement

We are delighted to announce A Thousand Cuts by Sujata Setia, presented as part of photoILKLEY 2026: HUMAN : NATURE.

Created through conversations with South Asian women who have experienced domestic abuse, A Thousand Cuts is a powerful exploration of trauma, resilience and survival. Each portrait is printed on delicate paper and cut by hand, transforming the traditional South Asian paper-cutting practice of Sanjhi Art into a poignant reflection on the cumulative impact of abuse and the possibility of healing.

Today's featured artist is Sujata Setia.

An Indian-born British artist, Sujata's socially engaged practice combines photography with traditional artistic interventions to explore identity, gender and cultural histories. An internationally acclaimed photographer, she is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Sony World Photography Awards Creative Category Winner 2024, LensCulture Critics' Choice Award 2024, BJP Female in Focus 2022, and was a Prix Pictet Nominee 2023.

📣 Exhibition Announcement

We are delighted to announce White Passing by Zoe Boswell, presented as part of photoILKLEY 2026: HUMAN:NATURE.

In White Passing, Zoe Boswell explores the landscapes that shape identity, weaving together found photographs from her father's homeland of Afghanistan with images from her own hometown of Manchester. Through this deeply personal series, she reflects on ethnicity, migration, belonging and the complexities of inherited identity, inviting us to consider how our sense of self is formed by both the places we come from and the places we call home.

Today's featured artist is Zoe Boswell.

A Leeds-based artist working with contemporary embroidery as a fine art practice, Zoe transforms vintage photographs, postcards and everyday materials through the act of stitching. By reworking found images, she creates new narratives that challenge ideas of memory, identity and belonging while blurring the boundaries between craft and contemporary art.

Want to explore Zoe's creative process? Join her Stitching on Photographs workshop on 18 July, where you'll learn how to transform your own photographs using hand embroidery in a relaxed, hands-on session. Materials are provided, and no previous stitching experience is needed.
