The World Cup officially kicked off last week, but a little closer to home another important football tournament was taking place, the fifth annual Sylvia Gore Schoolgirls cup final. ⚽

Ten Knowsley primary school teams braved the rain to compete in the final at Volair Halewood with St Mark’s Catholic Primary School taking home the trophy for the 2025/26 season.

The competition honours the legacy of Prescot-born footballer Sylvia Gore, who scored the first ever goal for the England women’s team in 1972 and played all over the world with the England women’s national side before going on to coach Wales’ national women’s team

Land artist James Brunt is back in Knowsley this week!
James first came to the borough in 2022, running land art workshops in local schools, parks and green spaces as part of the project ‘United By Land’, which culminated in the creation of the Halewood Mandala at Halewood Park Triangle.
Throughout this week James is working with schools and community groups to develop skills in creating land art from found and foraged materials.
There is an opportunity for the public to get involved in creating a new large-scale artwork on Friday 19 June, 1pm – 3pm at Halewood Environment Centre.
