✨ THE SPRING GROVE MURAL PROJECT ✨

We’re so excited to be developing a new mural for Spring Grove School — a celebration of the children who learn there, and their stories.

The mural will feature real pupils from the school, especially those who have shown resilience, kindness and courage in the face of adversity. It’s about recognising their strength and making sure they feel seen, valued and proud of who they are.

💫 “Reach for the Stars” is all about hope, confidence and reminding every child that they belong and can achieve great things.

The image above is an early mock-up based on our initial sketches. The final design will be shaped through workshops and engagement with pupils, teachers and families.

If you’d like to support the project, you can donate via this link. https://www.spacehive.com/huddersfieldrising

Small donations = Big murals. 💜 Thank you 🙏🏼🌟

We’re really excited to be launching a new town centre project with Huddersfield Rising in collaboration with Globe Arts Studio, and we’d love you to be part of it! 🌟

We’re looking for portrait artists of all abilities to help us celebrate the people of Huddersfield. This is about capturing real faces, real stories, and the character of our community. 🎨

You don’t need to be a mural artist.
If you enjoy creating portraits — whatever your style or experience — we’d love to hear from you.

Artists selected for the project will:

* Be fairly paid for their time
* Be provided with all materials
* Have their work featured as part of a public artwork in the town centre

How to get involved:
To be considered, please send us a portrait of:

* Yourself, or
* Someone meaningful to you from Huddersfield

Send your submission to: [email protected]

We’re really keen to hear from a wide mix of people — whether you’re just starting out or have been creating for years. What matters most is your perspective and your connection to Huddersfield. 💜

We’re loving these new murals in Beeston, Leeds by Karl Kanning. Congrats to Leeds on such a great project.

I drove past this beautiful mural at the Chestnut Community Centre in Deighton today and had to stop for a moment.

It’s such a powerful celebration of Deighton’s Windrush heritage, honouring history, culture and the generations who have shaped our community. Public art like this does more than brighten a wall. It tells stories. It recognises legacy. And most importantly, it makes people feel seen and valued.

It really got me thinking about the stories across Huddersfield that deserve to be celebrated in this way.

What are some of your favourite murals? And if you could see one story, person or moment from our community brought to life on a wall — what would it be?

Share your ideas below 👇 We’d genuinely love to hear them.

Community-led murals don’t just add colour — they can reduce graffiti and anti-social behaviour too.

Research from London’s Design Against Crime Lab shows that when communities take ownership of public space, crime and tagging can fall.

This is why Huddersfield Rising isn’t just about art. It’s about pride. Visibility. Belonging.

Let’s paint something that changes more than walls. 💜

𝑰𝒕'𝒔 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒔.
It’s about:
• Bringing visitors into our neighbourhood
• Supporting local cafés and shops
• Increasing pride in place
• Creating opportunity for local artists
Cities across the UK and globally are investing in murals because they deliver measurable impact.
Huddersfield deserves that too.
Join us in helping turn blank walls into something powerful for our local economy.

We’re so proud to share that Huddersfield Rising has been featured in Huddersfield Hub 🎨📰

This article highlights our vision to create a bold, high-quality mural trail across Kirklees — celebrating local identity, creativity, heritage and young people, while transforming underused buildings into something powerful and inspiring.

This is just the beginning.
The designs you’ve seen so far are concept visuals to spark discussion — the final murals will be shaped with the community and delivered in collaboration with leading mural artists. Thanks for all the initial support everyone 🙏🏼 🎨 💜

If you believe Huddersfield deserves ambitious public art, please read, share and help us build momentum.

Together, we rise.

A GoFundMe page has been launched and Huddersfield artist Emily Bamford hopes to have 10 murals completed by the summer of 2027
