Experimenting with collagraph printing at West Yorkshire Print Workshop as part of my Arts Council England DYCP project. Thanks to Kathryn Desforges for the help and guidance. Looking forward to developing the ideas further this month and spending more time in the print workshop.
I'm looking forward to an evening of short films by award winning film maker Alistair I Macdonald tomorrow night at Marsden Mechanics. One of the films shown will be our collaboration 'Riding West Riding', a hypnotic journey along the train line from Leeds to Huddersfield, commissioned by CreativeScene. Great to spend time in Ian Wrench's studio this week, developing my print skills as part of my Arts Council England DYCP project. I've been experimenting with collagraph and drypoint printing, which has been fun and frustrating in equal measure! Excited to start some monoprints next week.
New painting dropped off at Saddleworth Museum & Art Gallery to replace the painting that was sold last weekend in the Saddleworth Group of Artists Winter Exhibition.
The exhibition is on until the 15th January but please check Christmas opening times before visiting.

I was very pleased to hear that my recent Arts Council England Developing your Creative Practice application was successful. The funding will allow me to take time next year to focus on my creative development.

Busy morning at Saddleworth Museum and Gallery helping hang the upcoming Saddleworth Group of Artists Winter Exhibition.
The shows runs until the 15th January 2022 and you are warmly invited to the preview this Saturday (20th November) 1.30pm to 3pm.
I have few paintings in the current exhibition at Enjoy Art including this autumnal oil painting, 'After the Storm'.

Working on a few commissions at the moment, this one feels like it's nearing completion.... at this point I usually leave it and come back to it in a few days with fresh eyes.

This week I'm opening up my studio for Holmfirth Artweek with ceramist David Preston, who you might remember I collaborated with on an Arts Council funding project last year. David will be showing some of his new work alongside a selection of my paintings - you'll be able to call in every day between 10-3pm until Saturday 10th July.
We're open again today between 10-3pm as part of Holmfirth Artweek Fringe Art Trail. #theartweekchallenge today is "sky" and we have a selection of atmospheric paintings by Kevin Threlfall Art who specialises in dramatic skies - and looking at the forecast later, we might get one today!
It's the start of Holmfirth Artweek tomorrow and I'll be opening my studio as part of the fringe trail, showing work alongside David Preston Ceramics.
The studio will be open throughout the week, Saturday 3rd to Saturday 10th July, 10am to 3pm. Send me a message if you want to visit at another time.
Holmfirth Artweek raises money for Macmillan Cancer Support and local charities with 20% from sales going to support them.
It's been a while since my last show with the Saddleworth Group of Artists, so it's great to be back exhibiting again in their Summer Exhibition at Saddleworth Museum & Art Gallery in Uppermill.
Available to view this Saturday and then every day between 1pm to 4pm, from 3rd July to 1st August.

We are delighted to celebrate National Poetry Day 2020 with a new cover reveal for Colin Bancroft’s forthcoming publication, Impermanence.
This year Saddleworth Group of Artists celebrates its 70th anniversary. The planned Summer Exhibition at Saddleworth Museum and Gallery has now moved online and will be a “virtual” exhibition instead.
A percentage of proceeds from sales will be shared between the Museum and Christie Allsorts Fundraising Group (a Saddleworth group dedicated to raising funds for the Christie Hospital).
Founded in 1950 by Ellis Shaw, the group was originally based at Spring Street in Uppermill where exhibitions, talks and life classes were held. L.S. Lowry was a frequent visitor, and he exhibited with the group at the first Saddleworth Arts Festival in 1957 (his drawing of Piccadilly, Manchester, was priced £26 – 5shillings).
In 1979 when the lease ran out Roger Tanner was instrumental in arranging exhibition space at Saddleworth Museum. Today the group continues to hold twice yearly shows in the spacious art gallery.
There is a flourishing elected membership of nearly fifty artists working in a variety of media and subject from landscape to the figure and still life. Some members are qualified professionally as full-time artists and teachers. All are dedicated to their work and are delighted to hold this online exhibition.

I'm excited to be collaborating with David Preston Ceramics on a new project supported by Arts Council England. David uses unique glaze combinations and surface decoration on beautiful handmade ceramics forms. The evocative colours and textures in his pieces share similarities with my own paintings, so it’s going to be fascinating working together.
Beautiful weather this weekend for a walk (gentle stroll) on the moors, I'm lucky to have it on my doorstep.
Very grateful to have been awarded a grant from Arts Council England as part of their emergency funding. The grant will enable me to continue making art during this challenging time and help support new collaborations I’m developing - get in touch if you're interested in working together.
I'm missing my studio at the moment and looking forward to getting back in there soon. This photo is the shared studio space I had in Marsden in 2011. The building was originally a Sunday School built in 1890. We found out that the room our studio was in was known as 'the young ladies room' as it was where the 'ladies' did sewing and singing. The upstairs was 'the young mens room' but I've no idea what went on up there! Later on it was used by the local scout group for meetings before falling into disuse for many years until it was resurrected by some eager artists on the hunt for cheap studio space.

Using oil paints, a palette knife, and the Pennines as inspiration, Kevin creates atmospheric paintings that explore colour and texture to bring the landscape alive. Painting in an expressive and intuitive way, he captures experiences that are fleeting and that dissolve into the next; landscapes held together by rhyming connections of shape and colour.
