Temporary Contemporary
The Temporary Contemporary initiative is a partnership project of Queensgate Market, Kirklees Council and the School of Art, Design and Architecture, University of Huddersfield.
Situated within the Grade II listed Queensgate Market, Temporary Contemporary provides a platform for original and inspirational exhibitions, performances and research. The Market Gallery provides exhibition opportunities for active research staff and postgraduate students from the School of Art, Design and Architecture at the University of Huddersfield. Vacant stalls around the market are also used for temporary exhibitions by local artists, students and research staff

Happy Chinese New Year!
To celebrate the first day of the Year of the Tiger, here are some photos of artwork produced for the 'Because...' art competition: 'Tiger' by Henry Morris, felt artist extraordinaire; and 'We who live in the forest' a painting by talented artist Paul Thorpe. I have also included one of my favourite photos of Henry Morris himself. Henry is pictured here with his artwork.
Have a good year! Tigers rock!

"Influence the World" - happy pics of Rene Thomas and Matthew Evans with a very fine T-shirt by River Island. Couldn't persuade them to wear it...
Photos taken at the second artists' photoshoot in Gallery 3.
Rene Thomas was the winner for August, in the Calendar competition, with his painting 'Pitcher Plants'. Matthew Evans was the winner for February with 'Pineapple' and for October with 'Rainforest Trees'. Well done guys!
As Sir David Attenborough has said, people will take care of things if they appreciate them or have an affection for them. This is why we keep on doing what we do at Rainforest Appreciation Artists.
The exhibition is possible thanks to the support of CollaborARTi, Temporary Contemporary and Kirklees Council Creative Kirklees
First few pics from the second artists' photoshoot, which took place last Saturday, 27 November. Karen took these photos. Thank you Karen - nice shots!

'Because...' the winning entry for September's category, Beetles, frogs and reptiles, was 'Mr Snake', by talented artist Michal Friku Handke. Congratulations to you Michal!
Although I am posting an image of Michal's certificate, there are no photos of Michal holding it, as yet - because it wasn't prepared in time.
Michal combined spray paint and acrylic paint to produce this splendid work of art.
'Mr Snake' is one of the most popular images on display in the Calendar Exhibition. On Saturday, one visitor to the exhibition even commented, "I'd have a tattoo of that." In fact, there already is somebody with one of Michal's works tattooed on their back!
