Our New Theme, ๐ Space Adventure ๐ฝ
Started today. Before journeying into space, we did our Astronaut Exerciseโs - moving our bodies to the music, getting our hearts pumping and following simple instructions.
Then we built Rockets to get us to the Stars - developing our fine motor skills and encouraging imaginative play as well as problem solving and creative skills.
We worked as a team to shoot the starts high into the sky with our parachute, encouraging us to work together and aiding visual development as we watch the display.
Did you know? Comets are cosmic snowballs of frozen gases, rock and dust roughly the size of a small town (Source: NASA) Can you whizz through the sky pretending to be a Comet?
We whizzed our ribbons through the sky as we coordinated our ribbons and made different patterns.

We have lots of new faces in our New Explorers classes this term, they have all settled in so well! Shoutout to this mornings class who made the most of free play, helped a couple of our regulars celebrate their 2nd birthdays, danced, popped bubbles whilst listening to instructions perfectly! ๐

Our new theme starts this morning and the aim is to inspire a sense of Celebration and Joy in you and your little one; with lots of colour and an upbeat playlist of music.
Iโve created some lovely spaces in free play for some Sensory Exploration as well as the usual free play items and we have THE CROC CASTLE OUT! for all their bouncing and sliding needs ๐
๐คธ๐ผโโ๏ธDirected activities will get us moving, developing our Gross Motor Skills and helping us with body recognition and understanding of ourselves.
๐ซณ ๐ We will develop hand eye coordination, fine motor skills and visual development with balls, bubbles and Pom Poms!
Waving our flags will bring us together as a group and create a sense of fun and togetherness.

September can be a big change for children. Moving to pre-schools, nurseries, reception, schools, year groupsโฆ
Iโve had a few conversations about this in class with parents and have definitely felt it myself! Our little boy has moved classes in school with a new group and moved up in his Jiu Jitsu sessions and Iโm sure heโs had a little wobble over it. It can be frustrating when he gets worked up with me as soon as I pick him up, but, I have to remember that this is a big reason why!

๐ค Tunnels and Trains ๐
๐ As the Runaway train speeds down the track, the children will develop their musical skills and find their rhythm - playing instruments stimulates brain cells, improves memory and promotes self expression and creativity.
๐ We will work together as a team, encouraging socialisation and cooperation, whilst also developing our fine motor skills to โmove the train along the trackโ - fine motor skills are important for skills such as fastening coats, tying shoe laces and holding a pen in later life.
๐ All Aboard (one for the grown ups too ๐) we will create a colourful / bubbly party atmosphere as we ride The Night Train! Helping to lift everyoneโs spirits and encourage the production of โhappy hormonesโ
๐ The children will work their gross motor skills and develop special awareness as they tunnel through the obstacles.

Itโs a cliche, again, I know! But our little boy is 7 today and I can still remember our few days in hospital, when he was born, as though itโs just happening. I now understand why, 40 years on! ๐คฃ, my Mum still talks about the day I was born every time my birthday is coming up ๐

WEโRE BACK! today marks the start of our ๐ Autumn Term ๐
๐ We return with Colour Party - a session planned to get us all moving and bring us together as a group ๐
๐ Weโll be bouncing: engaging our core, promoting balance and coordination skills, being active in a fun way.
๐ We will use tension cloths and parachutes to creat a visual display and encourage us to work as a team as well as being physical.
๐ Iโve sneaked a traditional party song in there that will introduce children to Left and Right and get them laughing and moving too!
๐ The session will end with an all time favourite that also encourages children to get active, stimulate visual development and encourage hand / eye coordination.
I CANNOT WAIT!

Balance and coordination are extremely important gross motor skills - itโs important to encourage children to develop these in a controlled and focused way as this decreases the chance of stumbles and falls, allowing them to master control over their bodies and helping them to stay active and healthy. In next weeks session, we shall be โmaking carrot stewโ and enjoying it together in our picnic before taking part in camping games, nature trials and star gazing! ๐ฅ Role-Play develops language and communication skills and supports children in making sense of real world situations and the needs of others. Role-play allows children to safely explore, investigate and experiment. ๐ซ Early socialisation supports children in learning empathy, developing language and communication skills, gaining confidence and sharing/working together. ๐ The children will have a chance to observe and explore their environment - encouraging inquisitiveness, curiosity and an understanding of their surroundings. ๐ซ The end of the session will enable the children to slow down a bit and take a mindful moment with their grown ups. ๐ All Aboard for Train Week: ๐ We shall be making music and finding our rhythm whilst we โExpressโ (๐ see what I did there? ๐) ourselves on the Runaway Train - introducing musical instruments at a young age can be significant in developing communication, language and listening skills as well as an early appreciation for various types of music ๐ We are going to work together as a team to keep the trains moving along the circle - focusing on team work, hand eye coordination and fine motor skills - all important for developing everyday skills such as writing, doing up buttons and zips and taking part in sports activities ๐ Enjoy the lights and music of the Night Train! Providing visual and sensory stimulation whilst the bubbles puff out of the trains chimney - Sensory play includes any activity that stimulates your young childโs senses: touch, smell, taste, movement, balance, sight and hearing; important for understanding the world around them, builds connections in the brain, develops fine motor, gross motor and problem solving skills ๐ Finally, those gross motor skills will also be developed whilst you crawl through the tunnels like a train! Itโs Valentines Day! So weโll be sharing the love in this weeks sessions with music making, crafts, dancing and flying hearts! Activities are planned to help you and your preschooler bond and interact, encouraging that all important hormone โOxytocinโ - often named the Love Hormone or Hormone of Attachment because it helps us to feel happy, secure and bonded. Releasing Oxytocin helps with stress relief, anxiety, reduction in blood pressure and insecurities. This is why skin to skin contact is widely encouraged between babies and parents and it helps to raise levels in both child and parent! Free play has been set up to encourage sensory development and areas to explore lights, colours, texture and of course the bouncy castle and soft play equipment to help your child stay active and burn off some access energy. Hi, I am Amy and I am the owner and class leader for Toddler Sense Huddersfield. I have one boy, due to start school in September, who keeps me on my toes, keeps me smiling and often helps me to test out set ups and props for class!
My previous work experience has largely been office based, working in administrative and customer service roles before gaining a degree in Primary Education and teaching in schools around Kirklees.
I entered the Toddler Sense world after being part of classes with my little boy. We started our journey with Baby Sensory Huddersfield before moving onto the Toddler Sense programme. He now enjoys taking part in Mini Professors Science classes, which is also part of the Wow World Group of companies, as well as visiting Toddler Sense with Daddy.
I was lucky enough to take some time off after my little boy was born and was just at the stage where I was considering what my next career step would be when Toddler Sense Huddersfield became available, after taking part in the programme as a parent, I knew that it was everything I wanted from working with children!
The classes are fun, stimulating and exciting for children, whilst also aiding a large range of developmental areas. They learn through play and exploring the environment around them whilst also being introduced to weekly routines, such as โtidy up timeโ and singing โHow do you doโ as well as being responsible for collecting and tidying away their own equipment from activities. I feel honoured to be part of their lives each week and, as well as seeing their progression and development each session, I am most happy when I see the bonds of friendship that develop, between both children and adults, through taking part in a weekly class together.
I look forward to welcoming you and your little one into our exciting world soon!

Im sure theres a lot of mums and dads out there too thinking this too but I just want to say a huge thank you to amy for everything shes doing week in week out continuing bringing the normally for our childrens each week with amazing online classes, sending emails ideas for classes and being there for anyone that needs it. My lg loves toddler sensory and is so excited when we log on for the class. I am constantly watching the news for when todder sense can re open safely. But were just as happy with our zoom calls. Thank you again so much any, keep it up your a ๐ xx
