Not long now. Rehearsal complete. The excitement is building. The Band will be live on Albanian TV and streamed live on YouTube for the 110 vjet Forca the Armatosura-Se bashful per paqen. The concert starts at 6pm UK time and the band is expected to be featured around 8th on the programme. Good luck everyone!
The Yorkshire Regiment
It’s always a great pleasure to meet other Forces musicians and share our respective experiences. Representing the British Army, some members of the band are performing with the Albanian Armed Forces Wind Orchestra for their Independence Day celebrations alongside musicians representing Armed Forces from Kosovo, USA, and Greece.
A fantastic effort by 6 members of the band at the Movember 10k run Leeds. Raising money for men’s health they pounded the paths at Rounhay Park to all finish in the top 100. Excellent preparation for the fitness test at tonight’s drill night.
Once again we enjoyed a fantastic evening of music and reflection at our annual festival of remembrance in Huddersfield Town Hall. With the Association of Yorkshire Choirs and Pipe Major Andrew Paton we played a varied programme including “O Waly Waly” and “The Seventh Night of July”
We were very proud to lead the Remembrance Sunday parade today at Selby Abbey. A thought provoking sermon by the Right Reverend Bishop of Selby John Thomson, was followed by softly falling poppy leaves during the Last Post and wreath laying to “David of the White Rock” and “Supreme Sacrifice”
It’s always a wonderful experience to play in the acoustics at York Minster and yesterday was no exception. As well as playing the hymns in the Yorkshire Regiment Remembrance Service, the Band led a short parade around the Minster where Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen Zac Stenning OBE took the salute from the Officers and soldiers of the Regiment. Gen Sir Nicholas Houghton GCB CBE was one of the officers in the parade

Closing the show with the massed bands
Today we opened the Shrewsbury Flowershow with a march through the town to the Showground. With a massed band marching display tonight and a bandstand concert tomorrow, we will certainly feel appreciated by the thousands of visitors at the show.

It's been a pleasure to play for the welcoming crowds outside the City Hall. Joined by bands from Denmark, Norway and The Netherlands the sounds were impressive.
The combined Band of the Yorkshire Regiment and The Band of the Mercian Regiment at the Ringrider procession through the city today with up to 500 riders and 8 music corps - Ringriderfesten in Sønderborg.

Taking a well needed break cooling down from the heat of the stage performing to the hundreds attending the gala dinner at the national armed forces event at Scarbrough Spa. Very proud the next day to lead the Yorkshire Regiment on the parade before Prince Edward, Duke of Kent
A proper celebration of the Queen's birthday in the British Embassy Tunis. The event was themed all things British with a real ale bar, English sparkling wine, Typhoo tea, and Fish and Chips. We were proud to play a few British sets featuring music of the Beatles, Kinks, James Bond and British Folk Tunes.
A quick trip to Oudna to see the Roman ruins and WWII history then back to the embassy to support the platinum jubilee celebrations.

Rehearsals today for D-Day 78 at Bayeux Cemetery and Cathedral. We will be accompanying the fantastic Mezzo Soprano Emma Brown with “Going Home” to mark commemorations of D-Day before heading to the British Normandy Memorial to perform a service of remembrance.
A great garden party requires a great garden, and the Deanery at York Minster was perfect this afternoon. The Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire and the ArchBishop of York hosted the event in celebration of the Queen’s platinum jubilee.
Our Jubilee celebrations began today with a 42 gun salute at Museum Gardens, York. Performing to an excited audience, we were honoured to have been given special permission to wear the platinum jubilee medal.

We had a very full weekend providing ensembles to play at dining events in the Merchant Adventurers and Taylor’s Halls in York, the Yorkshire Regiment remembrance service at York Minster, and culminating in playing at Leeds United supporting the Regiment’s recruiting event and Premier League match dedicated to Remembrance Day. The Band played its arrangement of “Leeds Leeds Leeds” which was sung at some volume by the appreciative fans.
Buy your poppy! It's the 100th anniversary of the Royal British Legion and last night we had the honour of playing for a reception at the British High Commission, Nicosia, for all the Cypriot branches of the RBL. The British High Commissioner took time out to meet the Band and express his hope that we can perform there again when we return to the island in March 2022.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of playing for the cyclists crossing the finish line after a punishing 77km in 28c heat. Hoping to surpass the £49,000 raised last year, General Robert Thomson CBE, Commander British Forces Cyprus and Chris Eyre, Chief Constable for the Sovereign Base Areas in Cyprus participated in this annual event raising money for 3 worthy charities.
The Band held its annual dinner recently to celebrate its first rehearsal in October 2008. We were delighted to be joined by former members of the Band and have the opportunity to say a formal farewell to 2 founding members of the Band, WO2 (ABSM) Dave Hughes and S/Sgt (PSI) Phil Kershaw.
