Made our Misha some new yoga pants yesterday, by drafting a pattern from her favourite old ones, which I also repaired. Nice loose style with elasticated waist, deep pockets and baggy π bum. Really enjoyed this make. I fancy some myself now! The fabric is a good quality linen blend I found on eBay which comes in a huge range of gorgeous colours!

Today saw the last dressmaking session of the course where our Friday coven were frantically trying to finish their projects. Helen wrestled to get the sleeves into her dress. It was a battle she was determined to win. π€¨ Raffaella got the collar on her gorgeous vintage style dressing gown. That will be lovely and cosy up in those Italian mountains! π₯° And Lucy decide to make herself a coverall kaftan for her holidays. She flies TOMORROW!! π²She just loves cutting things fine, our Lucy! π
That's all for this term. Back in June.
Morning folks. We have room for a few more at the Piping and Binding skills workshop on 25th April, so book online ASAP if you fancy it.
I've cancelled the Buttonholes one as had no takers for that.
For the hand stitchers among you, here are some examples of ancient ecclesiastical embroidery I saw at St Winifred's Well today. How fine? π²
Today's challenges included, for Lucy, getting the lining into her sumptuous evening coat, joining it to the outer at the sleeve ends and bagging it out - That was exciting;l! π€© Not a moment too soon either! She has to go out-out in it tomorrow! For Raffaella, making darts in the sleeve heads of her vintage dressing gown - a new process for her; and for Helen, making sleeves ready to insert into her 60s dress next week (another vintage pattern) Well done my witches! You worked some marvellous magic today!

Today's highlights- Raffaella's lovely velvet Fly print skirt - that was a tricky pattern matching challenge - and Claire's little toddler sundress, for her granddaughter. Because why not?
I have this length of heavy furnishing/curtain/upholstery fabric surplus to requirements. 3m long by 1.5 (approx). In great condition. No rips, wear or tear, just a bit faded. Really nice quality stuff. Thick! FREE to a good home!! Come and get it if you want it. Bex
I was asked recently why they can't make sewing machines that do overlocking as well. I don't think I gave a very good answer. But since then I thought of a better explanation: It's the same reason you can't wash your dishes in the washing machine, or cut a tree down with a lawn mower. Different species of machine. Totally different mechanical set up.
Does that explain it a bit? I suppose I could add illustrations or a nice little animations...if I could be bothered π€£
Very busy morning at the Friday coven. Lucy's amazing Japanese style jacket is coming together beautifully. Raffaella is getting to grips with her stretch quilted fabric - it's a tricky monkey! And Helen, our newbie, has successfully inserted an invisible zip! That's a pretty advanced skill for a beginner - especially as she has never done any other sort of zip yet! Well done everyone. See you next week. Same time same place.
I've had no interest thus far in the Advanced Pattern Drafting course scheduled for 30th April - 1st May. There is another one in July (suitable for anyone who has previously attended Beginners Pattern Drafting) which will run as I have bookings for that one. So as there is quite a lot going on in April now, unless there are any objections, I'll probably cancel the April/May course. Shout if you'd rather I didn't !

Pressing on (pardon the pun) with a very special shirt commission. Replica of an 80s original using an original 80s pattern. I'm loving the pattern instructions. Takes me right back to my youth!
Finally finished this little ensemble for Alys. Its been sitting around for ages waiting for the hat, which I've just put together π.
Polite request: We need at least 2 participants to make a course viable, but the limit is 5 (preferably 4) in a class. As you can appreciate, that's quite a tight margin to work with. So please could you endeavour to get your bookings in at least 2 weeks before the course date, so I know: 1) whether its worth running 2) if it's going to be oversubscribed and I need to put an extra date in the calendar. Many thanks. π Bex
Because we can't please all of the people all of the time There are now two dates in the calendar for the zips class: 28th March and 28th April, both evening classes. Take your pick and book online! https://sewmooresewing.co.uk/
The new course dates for June are now on the website, as are the new prices. Sorry folks, fees have had to go up a bit. The rising cost of oil affects absolutely everythingπ Still jolly good value though!
Class sizes are small, so book online to secure your place https://sewmooresewing.co.uk/
We've made a good start with the new Thursday evening Dressmakers. Vic is back to develop the skills she learnt last time, and Clare is taking the opportunity to make little dresses for her granddaughter.
The SKILLS classes that were put in the calendar as a response to regular requests from stitch witches are not attracting much interest. There are no takers thus far for the Seams class and only one for ZIPS. So unless I get a sudden rush, I'm going to cancel the seams class. I need at least 2 participants to make it viable. So the zips will run if I get one or more additional bookings. Book online now! https://sewmooresewing.co.uk
