So where did the past ten years go Islwyn?
Yes - it is that time again! 🗳

A time many take soooo for granted.
But which so many across our globe do NOT get to decide.

The very soul of the country they want🌍

There is a Wales - divided by bitterness, hating its neighbour? Poorer, because citizens scrape and save - to pay for private health insurance.

Or perhaps a future republic?
A seperate Wales - which makes its people poorer. By greatly taxing to afford the most basic pensions and welfare. Poorer without the UK large Treasury uplift. Silent in a volatile world around Defence.

Today recovering from 15 long bitter years of cuts to Wales there is a glimmering hope. Wales with at last a proper budget. Yes do look it up🌻 But Wales - needs far MORE than just one good budget to FILL the holes left from Tory austerity🌹 Wales needs stability working in partnership.

With voting I wish to say just do it . And I also want to say a big thank you to ALL the caring consituents who have passed through my offices in Newbridge and Blackwood and throughout Islwyn over the years. Empathetic and responsible citizens who I have been very privileged to serve.

What ever the result of this critical Senedd election for Wales - it has been the greatest honour of my life to serve as your MS and I will remember the people of Islwyn - who I grew up with, went to school with, and taught music to 🎼🎶🎵 and of course - represented🤝

I leave you with a very simple question.

Q. WHAT is the Wales you want - for yourself AND for our future generations?

Good to support our new High Sheriff of Gwent - Shereen Williams MBE and speak to colleagues and friends, old and new at this weeks Declaration Ceremony.

Very well known to many, I know our new High Sheriff will be a true asset within this important and historic role for the communities of greater Gwent 👏👏

It is also important - that the worth to our communities and individuals (and to our nation) of those who volunteer is better understood and recognised. I fully support Shereen's chosen focus on Volunteering (and as a former community award winner Welsh Women Year I understand how it impacts). Any such spot light on the unpaid backbone body of work and care, which our truly amazing Gwent volunteers undertake - is hugely beneficial and welcomed.
