Hay Theatre presents Agatha Christie’s ‘TOWARDS ZERO’
Get ready for a thrilling evening of classic crime as Hay Senior Youth Theatre brings Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero vividly to life. This gripping murder mystery, adapted for the stage by Gerald Verner, is a masterclass in suspense, psychology and razor-sharp plotting — and it’s coming to Clyro Village Hall this month.
When a house party gathers at Gull';s Point, the seaside home of Lady Tressillian, Neville Strange finds himself caught between his old wife Audrey and his new wife, Kay. A nail-biting thriller, the play probes the psychology of jealousy in the shadow of a savage and
brutal murder. A carefully unpeeled investigation before our eyes, brings the story to a pointed ending.
Dive into a world of nail-biting suspense and clever twists as the thriller unfolds live around you. Perfect for mystery lovers who enjoy a good whodunit and want to experience the drama
up close. Directed by local theatre professional Janine Sharp, the production showcases the talent and commitment of a cast of eighteen young people aged 11–18. This is a truly youth-led project: the Senior Youth group cast chose the play themselves and were hands-on in designing and creating the set, props and costumes, bringing Christie’s world to life from the ground up.
Performances take place at Clyro Village Hall on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd March at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets are £10 for adults and £6 for ages 16 and under.

Funded by National Lottery Wales and the PAVO Youth-Led Grant Scheme, this production
promises an unforgettable performance of intrigue, drama and theatrical flair. Mystery lovers, take note — this is one case you won’t want to miss.

At CLYRO village hall tomorrow 31st January. Hay Youth Theatre are holding a public rehearsal of their production Towards Zero by Agatha Christie. It is very much a rehearsal from 1-3pm. From 3-5 the cast will be making costumes, set and practising 1940,s stage makeup. This too is an open afternoon for the public to enjoy watching our wonderful youth of Hay and surrounding areas work very hard on their own production. Professionally led by Director Janine Sharp and a team of Hay Theatre adult members who facilitate back stage work.

What amazing year we had last academic year! The grant from Herefordshire council gave us a massive opportunity to put on an enormous show involving all of our groups with an age range of 6-82.
Spring is Sprung was a hilarious triumph, challenging, skilful and hugely entertaining. Clifford village hall was packed, squeezed tight for the three performances and everywhere I go, people are asking "When’s your next production?"
Well I am delighted to tell you that Sue and I have been busy. We applied for a grant for our teenagers this time. They requested to do a murder mystery based on Agatha Christie’s brilliant book, “Towards Zero.”
We did it right, we were awarded the Awards for All grant by Lottery Wales .
Not only that but PAVO sent my group an opportunity to have an extra youth led grant. They decided they wanted to design and make the set, props and costume for the production scheduled for next March and they got their grant of £1,400. I’m proud of these guys.
So Hay senior youth theatre starts a week earlier than expected as we’ve so much to do. September 13th 1-3pm. At Cusop village hall. We move into Clyro village hall a bit later when we are sorted and on the project.
The class is full with 19 in the group,
but I can start a waiting list.
Thank you to our grant funders. It enabled me to write a special adaptation of the book catering for 19 young people aged 11-18.
A week ago they texted me to say they had organised a read-through meeting at Hay Castle with 8 of them present.
They loved the script. Phew!
So hey ho away we go… summer may have disappeared but Autumn brings on a new adventure for Hay Theatre CIC. See you all soon.
