✨ Wonderful news from St Peter’s Singers in Northney! ✨

We’re absolutely delighted to welcome the fabulous Emily Christian as our new group leader! 🎶 Many of you will know her as the talented conductor behind the and — and now she’s working her magic with us too!

Our sessions have been full of fun, music, and laughter (plus coffee, of course ☕🎵). After a little while of not knowing what was next, it feels so good to be singing together again with fresh energy and joy.

If you enjoy singing (no auditions, just enthusiasm!) and fancy joining a friendly, welcoming group, we’d love to hear from you. Send me a message — come along and give it a go! 💛

We started on 25th June 2012 (the wettest June for 100 yrs). It was really the era of Gareth Malone and the advent of community choirs that started the idea in Anna Else’s head-making singing available for everyone ,irrespective of knowledge or experience.
Anna led the group for two and a half years but left when she felt that they wanted and needed greater direction than she could give, which is when the then piano accompanist the wonderful Pam Richards took over providing that leadership valiantly up until recently.

At that point ,of course we were then without an accompanist but word came to Pam that a pianist/organist had moved into the village. It was Charles Barrett and he immediately liked the idea of accompanying the Singers. Pam realised she had heard him in action accompanying school choir concerts at St, Albans , West Leigh, and knew we were onto a good thing.
Charles was a vital part of the group till his move to Herefordshire in 2023.

Subsequently, Diana Gabra who joined the singing group in 2022 became the accompanist, and currently the group is looking for a new musical director since Pam decided to have some rest.

St Peter’s Singers gather weekly on Monday 10am for one hour rehearsals followed by a coffee time at The Ark, St Peter’s church in Hayling Island. The musical repertoire is varied between both sacred and secular. The group gives 2 concerts each year, a summer concert in July and a Christmas concert in December.
New members who would love to sing are always welcome without the need of musical knowledge.
