The final Summer Sessions Live at the Bandstand in Raphael Park, Main Road, Romford will showcase local performers this Sunday from 2pm to 4pm.

The family-friendly events are open to all ages, free to attend and do not require booking. Visitors can drop in at any point during the performances while enjoying the park.

Featuring a fresh line-up of talented local musicians in a relaxed outdoor setting, visitors are encouraged to bring a chair or picnic blanket and enjoy an afternoon with family and friends.

Romford Market will take centre stage this weekend (Friday 28 and Saturday 29 August) as Market Town transforms the historic market and surrounding streets into a celebration of local stories, creativity and community.

As night falls on Friday and Saturday evening, Meet Me by the Fountain – a spectacular free outdoor show in the heart of Romford, will use light, projection and sound to reimagine the iconic Liberty Fountain, taking audiences on a journey through the market's rich history.

By day on Saturday, Suburban Legends will bring the market to life through performances featuring a hundred local participants, sharing stories of traders, residents and the characters who have helped shape Romford over the centuries.

The programme also includes a range of free activities hosted by partners, including Havering Museum at The Brewery, live music from youth collective The Ionians (supported by Havering Changing) at Mercury Mall, and Romford BID are hosting a market history exhibition at Romford Market Hall.

Want to be involved? There's still time to take part - you can become a Suburban Legend and join the team bringing the market to life on Saturday or get behind the scenes and be an Event Volunteer with Greenwich+Docklands International Festival.

Fairkytes Arts Centre has 11 rooms available to hire for your club/society meeting, arts & crafts session, or exercise class.

As part of Havering London's Suburban Legends event on Saturday (29 August), The Ionians will be putting on this borough’s biggest youth music show in recent memory at Level One of The Mercury Shopping Centre in Romford from 3-6pm.

Formed in 2025, The Ionians are a group of young people with backgrounds in music performance and production that put on concerts for people aged 13-25 across Havering. These concerts are free opportunities for young people to perform and be themselves in energetic and friendly concerts with their peers.

If you're looking for creative fun for the whole family, then join us at Fairkytes Arts Centre for Family Crafts this summer. You can choose from a one or two hour session to suit your schedule. All materials will be provided. We hope to see you there!

Parents/ carers/ personal assistants/ guardians MUST stay for this session.

Price applicable per child/adult:

2 hour session £8 per person
1 hour session £5 per person

IMPORTANT- places will only be booked when payment has been made. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to hold places without payment.

Bookings and payment can be made by phone – 01708 433860 or you can register interest via email (follow up phone call will be made for payment) - [email protected].

Please note that it may take a few days for us to call you back to take payment due to varied working hours.

Make, Create and Parade is part of Havering London's Suburban Legends event this Saturday (29 August).

Come along to Hope Cafe in Romford Market Place at 10am to create masks of livestock and paper planes, inspired by stories from Havering's past.

Then , at 12pm, bring your creation along for a joyful community parade in Romford Market!

No need to book, just drop in and join the fun!
