Coming up this weekend in Tilford - very reasonably priced family double bill theatre show. It comprises The Red Balloon which is a charming and funny homage to Albert Lamorisse's short film and The Laurel and Hardy Radio Show which is a tribute to the iconic comedy duo.

The Laurel and Hardy show is being performed by two excellent actors who you may have seen recently in Grayshott's fabulous Wizard of Oz.

OUR REVIEW IS IN!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ‘Go, Go, Go See Joseph!!!’

The creative team from last year’s fantastic 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘔𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤 have now delivered the perfect uplifting ending to summer 2026. Once again Haslemere is treated to its most beautiful voices performing an energetic, uplifting and highly entertaining show.

The most striking aspect of this production beyond the incredible singing is the quality of choreography - matching bigger productions and even the West End. Frequently the stage is absolutely full of people moving with energy and style in complete harmony, yet even at its busiest the choreography never feels chaotic or cluttered. The ‘technicolor’ of this production may be this visual feast – everywhere you look characters are doing interesting things as if a dozen micro stories are playing out simultaneously. And every scene the movement is fresh and new - and most importantly, looks such fun!

The two lead roles of Narrator and Joseph are performed with fabulous style and aplomb and give the entire production its great pacing and arc. At just 16 and 15 respectively, they are astonishingly accomplished vocal performers and surely stars of the future. Joseph confidently delivers all facets of the character arc including his boyish charm when young, his sadness and grit in prison and his confidence and authority under the Pharaoh. The Narrator meanwhile anchors the entire show with necessary clarity, mixed with charming and playful movement and expression – her reaction to the attentions of a certain main character is particularly witty and fourth-wall-breaking.

This is a large cast and audiences are spoiled for stand-out performances including from the motley crew of ‘love-to-hate-them’ brothers, Elvis-styled Pharaoh and seductress Mrs Potiphar. There is remarkable polish throughout the ensemble and choir, with even the smallest roles contributing to the energy and character of the production.

As always with this production company there are clever technical innovations employed to bring new elements to shows at Haslemere Hall including lighting, stage design and a concluding effect we won’t spoil.

With two days of performances to go, we highly recommend you don’t miss out on this joyous show.

Sad news that Dolly Parton has passed away, aged 80.

The great singer songwriter will be remembered for her infectious positivity, humour, famous songs and astonishing charity work.

We think of the musical '9 to 5' which has been performed in recent years in Grayshott and is currently being produced as a youth production for Haslemere next February by Surrey Theatre Academy. She wrote 20 fabulous original songs for the show (if you haven't heard them then take a listen on Spotify) and co-wrote the story. It's as joyous and poignant a production as the great lady herself, with an injection of rebelling against injustice.
