Agatha Christie is one of the world’s most famous crime writers, but what do we really know about the woman behind Poirot, Miss Marple and one of the most famous disappearances in literary history?

Join Dr Loukia Drosopoulou, Project Curator of the British Library’s Agatha Christie exhibition, author Susan Brownrigg and biographer Laura Thompson, for a special panel exploring Christie’s life, writing and enduring legacy, marking 100 years since her disappearance in Harrogate and 50 years since her death.

On this swelteringly hot day, while we’re still in summer mode, we wanted to take a brief moment to pause and take stock of this summer, our 60th year of Harrogate International Festivals.

From our opening HACS Harrogate Music Festival gig with the astonishing Abel Selaocoe, to the huge ensemble sound of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, from party energy and cool grooves in the Spiegeltent to intimate chamber music concerts, from small people smiles at our Family Festival to the spectacle of the Luminarium, not to mention the four day extravaganza that is … it’s been a jam packed couple of months, with over 29,000 tickets sold to over 77 events.
