Update on the Romsey Mayor face-in-the-hole board created for One Romsey, the pride festival for the town. The board was a big hit as you can see!

The light of midsummer brought a special magic to our Life Drawing session in The Abbey United Reformed Church Hall this evening. No lighting required as the sun gloriously poured over our wonderful model Berni who was a joy to draw.

I feel better now finishing with this couple of hours of total immersion in process and looking after a busy week.

I recommend!

Come along and join us for relaxed and welcoming Life Drawing sessions. All levels, from beginners to experienced, are welcome. I believe there is no such thing as someone who can’t draw, drawing is a process and when we draw we learn so much. Simply bring a willingness to try and learn.

It was wonderful to work with the little artists from my art club for primary age children.

They became medieval scribes and learned about illuminations in this ambitious session where they make their own inks which they then used on their decorative initials which they then illuminated.

The joy we had in our shared discoveries along the way as they took ownership of the process was everything.

It was a wonderful way to spend my birthday!

I had the joy of painting in Romsey Town Hall today on a little project for the Mayor of Romsey for One Romsey, the towns celebration of Pride.

It was so peaceful and lovely to be doing something completely different for my local community. This blackboard face in the hole board will be present at the event happening this Sunday in Romsey. It is an invitation to become the mayor but also for people to draw using chalk and create their own characters to inhabit in the frame.

I thoroughly enjoyed the online Drop In and Draw session with for Mental Health Awareness Week for

This years theme for the week is Action and about preventing people becoming unwell in the first place. This session focused on process based drawing activities to bring people into the present moment, using drawing as a tool to access that moment.

Leaving our cares for the final outcome behind it was a joy to engage in the physical act of putting pencil to paper.

My cortisol feels reduced and my dopamine is up! Drawing for mental wellbeing. It’s a big ✔️

The children transformed into Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs this week at the Drawn Together Kids Club.

The inventiveness in their drawings inspired by the relief work and paintings found in the tombs was wonderful. And they enjoyed the link to their scrolls and the papyrus of the book of the dead. We shared our Egyptian knowledge and as per usual I learned a lot!

Today is the last chance to book in for Life of Plants

This workshop is an invitation to discover a more fluid approach to botanical drawing where we capture the movement and energy of the plant life. It is about gesture and materiality.

All materials are provided.

Just a small portion of the truly beautiful skies and clouds captured by the artists from Braishfield Art Group. I loved the preparation for this session which involved exploring the many ways one might create a cloud in the sky.

We found it was mostly serendipitous, we needed to embrace the possibilities and be open to happy accidents. Our materials were fluid and full of movement to get a sense of the ever changing heavens above us.
