IBIZA… WE’RE COMING BACK! 🌴🎧🔥

Can’t wait to be back on the White Isle — dancing to some top DJs, supporting the crew and this time making my Es Paradis debut for the .mixarena competition 🙌🏻

It’s pretty mad thinking back to just over a year ago when I rocked up to the Mix Arena comp at Eden, still very new to all this… without even bringing any headphones 🎧🤦🏻‍♂️

I genuinely didn’t know the drill.😂

I’d spent a panicked couple of days at Pirate Studios beforehand trying out different decks, just so I had at least some confidence I’d be able to work whatever setup Eden threw at me.

We landed in Ibiza around midnight, headed straight to to dump the bags, jumped in a taxi and went straight down to Eden for my 3am set.

And I was absolutely sh*tting myself. 😬

helped get me geared up, settled the nerves and got me going… and before I knew it, the room was electric. 🔥💃🏻

That feeling behind the decks was unreal 🖤

That was the moment I decided I was actually going to do this for real 🙌🏻

And what a bloody year it’s been since. 🎧🌎🙌🏻

So a massive thanks to Ross for giving me that opportunity last year and for having me back again.

This time I’ll try to remember the headphones. 😂🎧

Next stop… ES PARADIS, IBIZA! 🌴🔥

🎧 DJs AREN’T ALEXA… although sometimes I bring one with me 😂

“You’ve GOT to know this one…” “Surely you’ve got that one…” “You've got to play this one, everyone will dance!" 😅

There are over 100 MILLION tracks on Spotify alone — and after 40+ years of House music, there are millions of tunes, remixes, bootlegs and edits out there.

So no, I haven't got every tune ever made on my USB 😂

Anything going on the decks needs downloading, running through Rekordbox and getting onto a USB — and if you actually want me to mix the thing, that 2-minute Spotify version with no intro or outro isn't always much use either.

Basically… DJs aren't Alexa and requests aren't always welcome 😂

HOWEVER…

Last night I overheard someone say:

“Asif he's brought his wife to work with him”

Well, after she'd already helped me all day at York Racecourse, I dragged our lass along to another gig too.

And actually, if you're someone who likes making requests, you should probably be bloody glad when I do. 😂

Because while I'm behind the decks thinking “I haven't got that mate…” she's the one likely to be sat on the pub floor, Guinness in hand 🍺, finding the track, downloading it, pulling it through Rekordbox and sticking it on my spare USB ready for me.

She knows better than to interfere with what's actually getting played 😂 — but if your request fits the night, at least she's given it a fighting chance of making it onto the decks.

So next time you ask for something obscure and I say I haven't got it…

Trust the DJ and get back on the dancefloor. 😂🎧
