We're so excited to be starting our brand-new term in September, and our courses are now live for booking.

September always feels like a lovely time for new beginnings. As the new academic year gets underway, it’s the perfect opportunity to try something different, develop your skills or simply take some time for yourself. With painting, drawing, ceramics and more, we hope you’ll find something to inspire you.

Our courses are also designed to be flexible so you can join us for a single half-term or build your creative practice over the year. Each six-week block has a different theme, giving you the opportunity to explore new ideas, materials and approaches as you progress. Whether you fancy dipping your toe into something new, joining us for a skills refresh or committing to a full creative year, there’s no wrong way to get involved 💜

If you've booked with us before, you might notice that our booking system looks a little different. We've made some updates to make the booking process simpler, but if you have any problems or need a helping hand, please don't hesitate to give us a call. You can reach us on 01422346 900.

☀️ In the Gallery: Summer residencies ☀️

We’re excited to welcome a range of creatives to our gallery over the summer for artist residencies. These residencies are a rare opportunity for artists to have access to a large and flexible space to test out new ideas, develop existing work or see the realisation of a project.

Drop in on selected dates to see works-in-progress, meet the artists and learn more about their work:

🐴 Laura Cooper - view by appointment (18 - 22 August)
Laura investigates how artist moving-image can engage interspecies relationships through modes of visual capture as well as ones of embrace.

🪡 Letty McHugh - open Saturday 29 August and Thursday 3rd September, 1-4pm
Working with textiles, Letty will create a series of large, free-standing textile pieces that combine text and thread drawings.

🌱 The Peat Appreciation Society - open Thursday 17 September, 2-5pm
The Peat Appreciation Society will experiment with many different materials, exploring where they come from and how we connect with the natural world.

And we’re off! 🌱🌼

We’ve had such a fantastic first day at the Seeds of Hope festival welcoming visitors to the Everybody Garden. It’s been wonderful to see people enjoying our colourful creations, exploring the garden and getting stuck into the creative activities we’ve set up in the space.

If you’d like to join in, you can visit Shibden Park this weekend (to 16 August).

Seeds of Hope is free to attend, with lots to see and do while you’re with us. Pick up a Seeds of Hope trail booklet and explore all ten community-created gardens – they are all so unique and full of special touches. You can also visit the Stage at the Lake website for details of activities, talks and workshops for all ages. And, of course, there's the beautiful park itself to enjoy!

We hope to see you there 💜

Over the last few months we’ve been planting, growing and working with our fantastic community to prepare The Everybody Garden - a micro show garden that will form part of Culturedale’s Seeds of Hope festival at Shibden Park 🌻🌿

Alongside Cross Lane Primary School, Phoenix Men’s Shed and more than 200 children, volunteers and community members, we’ve cultivated plants, painted planters, pots and pebbles and created nature weavings and ceramic stepping stones. It’s been a wonderful testament to what can be achieved when a community grows together 💚

And today is the day it all starts to come together! We’re on site installing the garden ahead of the festival launch, bringing all those creative contributions together to create a space that celebrates our organisation’s textile heritage and the wellbeing benefits of art, creativity and nature.

We hope The Everybody Garden will be a welcoming space for everyone to enjoy - a place to pause, connect with nature and take a moment for mindfulness.

👋 Meet Sarah 👋

We’re excited to introduce Sarah, one of our fantastic Artist Educators here at Everybody Arts. Sarah delivers a range of courses, workshops and community projects, bringing together creativity, wellbeing and a love of nature. If you’ve visited us before, there’s a good chance you’ve attended a class with Sarah or spotted her behind the scenes.

Sarah’s teaching style is calm and encouraging – but also very playful. She loves to experiment with unusual materials and isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty! Sarah can often be found rummaging through the cupboards to find discarded objects or hidden treasures to bring into her classes.

A class with Sarah is gentle and unrushed. She creates a safe, welcoming and relaxed environment where you have the space to create at your own pace and get fully absorbed in the joy of making.

Our students say:

“It was so friendly, Sarah created an inclusive environment. She was so enthusiastic which was very infectious.”

“Sarah is not only highly talented but is extremely sensitive to the needs of individuals within the group.”

“Sarah is exceptionally kind, caring and patient.”

Want to get creative with Sarah?
