**Girlz B Like returns to East London**

On **Saturday 9th May**, Girlz B Like lands back at Hackney Wick for another high-energy celebration of dancefloor culture — **strictly vinyl-only sessions** running **7pm–2am**. With our signature motto *“Guys dance, Girlz DJ,”* expect a night driven by fearless selectors and deep digging it's an undeniable movement.

At the helm is resident DJ, Director and Founder **Marcia Carr**, a true torchbearer for vinyl culture whose vision continues to platform women selectors at the highest level.

Taking centre stage are three standout guest selectors:

**Dubplate Pearl (Pearl Boatswain)** makes her long-awaited Girlz B Like debut — a supa don queen selector and cornerstone of London’s Reggae sound system culture. South London raised, Pearl is a vinyl purist rooted in blues party traditions and deep record digging. Known for her heavyweight selections spanning vintage reggae, roots and lovers rock, she brings unmatched authenticity and presence. A veteran of iconic sessions including Vinyl Meltdown, Spin That Tune, Ska Lavin and The Reggae Shack, with a Boiler Room appearance under her belt, Pearl continues to champion vinyl through her work at LionVibes in Brixton. For this special set, expect her to stretch into **disco, rare groove and boogie**, delivering a rich, cross-genre journey grounded in heritage and vibration.

**YDLR**, the vivacious Brixton-based selector, also steps up for her **Girlz B Like debut**, bringing undeniable energy and charisma from South London’s underground. Known for her connection to a new wave of q***r women-led club spaces, YDLR’s sets are bold, expressive and built to move bodies — a fresh and vital voice on the scene.

Returning by demand, **Sweet P** represents the formidable **Eves’Drop Collective** with style and authority. A seasoned vinyl orator, she blends gallant energy with vibrant, soul-driven selections. Having already left a strong impression at previous Girlz B Like sessions, her return promises another dynamic and deeply musical set.

This inaugural record captures the essence of the Girlz B Like dancefloor - the kind of sounds you’ll hear drifting through our bi-monthly East London parties at Grow, Hackney: joyful, soulful, rooted, and unapologetically made for movement.

THE MUSIC

Kicking off the label series, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on the wonderful Emma Ryalls, who opens proceedings with 'Joy' - a solid club-floor gem brimming with bubbly, soulful house energy, lifted by subtle gospel touches that feel as good as they sound.

On the flip, 'Love Echoes' delivers a rawer dancefloor bubbler - a rich brew of Afro rhythms, drum-pad beats and deep grooves, with a gorgeous splash of keys from Ms Uschi Classen. Together, the two tracks form a powerful, love-led statement of intent for Girlz B Like Recordings.

The 7” is scheduled for release Friday, 6th March 2026, via Girlz B Like Recordings, and will be available at all the best vinyl record outlets where records are your best buy.

Girlz B Like: 10 Years Strong – and Ready to Razzle Dazzle London One More Time

After a decade of shaping London’s dance floors with pure joy, deep groove and unapologetic female energy, Girlz B Like is ending 2025 the only way it knows how - with glitter, groove, and a whole lot of heart.

Following the incredible success of their 10th birthday celebration, where crowds packed the venue despite the day's train chaos, the grassroots brand has announced its grand finale of the year: Girlz B Like: End of Year Razzle Dazzle Christmas Party, lat its spiritual home Grow, Hackney Wick, on Saturday 13 December 2025.

For those who missed the October birthday bash, the night was a full-on love letter to ten years of community and sound. DJ Inch High dropped 90s house anthems and sing-along 80s boogie jams; Sophie Lloyd shimmered through her signature deluxe disco; and Nubian Soul brought pure fire with gospel R&B, hip hop soul, and broken-beat energy that left the crowd singing, sweating, and smiling in equal measure. It was the kind of night that reminded everyone why Girlz B Like has stood the test of time - ten years of our motto “guys dance, girlz DJ,” and still going strong.

Now, the stage is set for one last dance of the year, a festive blow-out promising all the sparkle of the season and all the soul of the underground. Making her Girlz B Like debut, Donna Gibson (Paris-based vinyl purist and daughter of Gibson Brothers’ legend Patrick Gibson) is set to spin tropical boogie and sun-kissed disco melodies. Joining her, DJ Paloma brings back her infectious, joy-filled selections after lighting up the decks at this year’s International Women’s Day celebration. And of course, Marcia DaVinylMC, the GBL founder and creative heartbeat, rounds out the lineup with deep disco, Afrobeat, gospel, funk, and real house cuts to keep the dance floor glowing till late.

Dress to dazzle - think gold, silver, velvet red, and everything shiny. Forget your office party: this is the Christmas event where glamour meets groove and community reigns supreme.
