In this demo reel, I'm sharing a magical winter scene created using Crafty Concoctions Chromalab Inks along with stamps from The Brush Stroke Collection by Gwen Fletcher ❄️🎨🦉

For this project, I used Chromalab Inks on my Gel Plate to create the snowy moonlit sky, with an extra added ingredient helping to achieve the beautiful frosted effect. I then added colour and extra snowy details using Royal & Langnickel Watercolour Paints to complete the design.

Glitter in-fill for your Die-Cuts! Take Two!

As promised, here's another example using your Atomix Glitters to in-fill your die-cuts! For this card I've used two colours for the foliage, Radiant Embers and Subatomic Foliage, and for the florals I've used Nebula Constellation. All three of these glitters are the colour shifting ones so as you move the card you see the alternating colours too!

I'll run through the technique again in case you missed Wednesday's post, but basically you take your die-cut adhere it to acetate, flip it over, flood your chosen area with glue, then add your Atomix Glitters. AND you don't have to wait for each section to dry! Work with one colour at a time, and once that section of glue is covered with that colour you can move onto the next colour as even if any glitter clings to a previous section, it won't be seen, only that initial colour touching the glue will show on the front once it's all dry!

For this card, once it was completely dry, I did also fussy cut around the edge of the die-cut to remove the excess acetate, it's a little fiddly, but definitely worth it in the end! Christine ###

Glitter in-fill for your Die-Cuts!

This is an age old technique which I had totally forgotten about until I played with Sue Wilson's Elegant Frames and Florals Collection! And I thought it'd work perfectly!! So the basis behind this technique is that you take your die-cut, adhere it to acetate, then working on the back you flood the in-fill areas with glue and add your glitter. I changed it a bit for this card and made a shaker, but the technique is the same, and I'll share another example on Friday!

For the foliage I used Luminescent Blaze Atomix Glitter, then for the flowers, I flooded all the petals with glue, sprinkled in some Spectral Pink for the centre, then used Jamie's Diamond white Gemstones Glitter to cover the rest of the glue. Simple but effective!

I love this style of card and it worked brilliantly with Francoise's NEW Beach Collection! All I did to create the background was alternate watered down circles of Cobalt Compound and Photon Nightfall Chromalab Inks. I deliberately painted them close together to get the bleed at the joins as I thought it added to the underwater theme! Super simple to do, but so effective, even with black and white stamped images!

Have you given this grid style of background a go yet? Whether you've used a stencil to give you guidelines, used tape to create a grid or gone free hand like this, it's certainly one of my go to backgrounds for a card now! Christine ###

A touch of sparkle with Atomix Glitters!

As you probably know I have been loving creating backgrounds using the Chromalab Inks, and for this one I had taken Thermal reaction, Quantum Inferno and Oxidising Ruby and created a loose stripey background that I had splattered water onto when it was dry.

Then I simply die-cut my background using the Elegant Florals Dies from Sue's Elegant Frames and Florals Collection, and doesn't it look fab! Such a simple thing to to do, but it looks so different than just using a plain coloured card!

Now, here comes the sparkle! So all I did here, was tap some glue onto the detailed areas of the die-cut using my finger. Gwen also demoed this kind of idea using a mini ink blending tool too, so don't feel like you have to get messy, it can be done in a clean way too! And once you've applied the glue, simply tip your glitter all over (I used Iridescent Reaction) and leave it to dry. Once dry, tap off the excess, I find more glitter sticks if you let it dry first before tapping off the excess! Christine ###

Sprinkled Sparkle Background...

Sometimes you don't want to add glue to an overall die-cut piece for a background (especially when it's full of fiddly details!) this is where adhesive sheets come in, but if you're not paper piecing the design, all the apertures are still sticky, so in come your glitters!

For this card I've used the Sue Wilson Heart Background Die, cut from Christmas Red Foundations Card and added to a double sided adhesive sheet. Then I've taken Spectral Pink Atomix Glitter and sprinkled it over the exposed adhesive, using the backing paper from the adhesive sheet to press the glitter down. Once you're happy, tip off the excess Atomix Glitter and add some Jamie Rodger's Crafts Diamond White Glitter to cover the remaining adhesive, burnishing it down.

Then I've simply finished the card with some ribbon and the LOVE sentiment die also from Sue's Romance Collection! Christine ###

A simple Good Luck card with a little Atomix Glitter!

A quick and easy design using Sue's Romance Collection of dies and her Heart's 8x8 stencil to create a four leaf clover effect! And to finish it off, I added a bead of glue around the edges of the die-cut clovers and a dot in the centre and sprinkled on some of the stunning Luminescent Blaze Atomix Glitter! Christine ###

Super Sparkly Glossy Background!

I've shown a couple of samples spreading your Crafty Concoctions thinly onto your card and allowing to dry so you can die-cut them, but you can also just use it as a background too!

For this card I've used the Blendite Clear Texture Paste to make 3 translucent sparkly concoctions using Chromalab Inks and Atomix Glitters that pair well together... Molecular Rose and Spectral Pink, Reagent Plum and Colloidal Violet and Thermal Reaction with Iridescent Reaction. Then I've spread them thinly onto white card, allowed to dry and trimmed down to my favourite size, then simply finished with one of Jamie's circle sentiments!

This is a great way to give a sparkly card to someone who doesn't like the feel of glitter as it's all encapsulated into the clear paste so feels slick to the touch and it certainly non shed too! Christine ###

Trapped colour effect with Chromalab Inks!

I love that ghosting effect that you can create with stencils, and did you know that you can get similar results with stamps too? You just need some clear embossing powder! So I started with a Chromalab Ink background, and I actually used my spray ink versions to create it using Ionic Foliage, Cobalt Compound and Compound Leaf.

Once the background was completely dry, I trimmed it to size and added anti-static powder all over. I then use a silhouette style stamp from the Wild Iris Stamp Set from Woodware to stamp horizontally across my portrait panel with clear sticky ink. I added my clear embossing powder, tipped off the excess and heat set. Then I sprayed the background liberally with water, this re-activated all the colour not trapped under the clear embossing, and when you dab up the water with kitchen roll, you get the effect shown here :D

Chromalab Ink Watercolour with Woodware!

I LOVE this Wild Iris Stamp set from Gwen, and I just had to do a really simple card using the Iris as the focal point and using the Chromalab Inks to colour! I also used the Latin Script Background Stamp from Jamie Rodger's Crafts to add some subtle background detail too, and finished with a fabulous Nature's Peace sentiment! Christine ###
