Comment of the week after Gower Harmony yesterday morning…

“I feel like I’ve done a workout at the gym!” 🤣

Yes! Singing really is a workout - for mind, body and soul.

I’m all for joining a gym (I go to aqua aerobics at my local gym and get so much out of it), but if you’re looking for something that raises your heart rate, deepens your breathing and builds wonderful community connections, maybe a choir could be for you.

Hello :-) what a beautiful day. I'm just popping in to say, woah, we're starting back NEXT WEEK!! I don't normally start back so early but this term is going to be a bit different from usual - in order to fit in 10 sessions in this short term.

So, I'm inviting new people to come along for a free taster session in the first couple of weeks of term. There are now 4 weekly opportunities to sing with me and I can tell you it's a lot of fun and great for mind body and soul. If you don't believe me, why not come along and try it out for yourself? Taster sessions are completely free and no obligation to join us.

Here's a flyer with the key info - and a link to the events page on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/katedaviessinging/events I'll put the website link in the comments ..

Here's a full list of all the taster sessions. We'd love to welcome you along. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Happy New Years Eve Everyone 😍

I've been mostly hibernating for the last couple of weeks but as often happens for me on New Years Eve I find myself gently beginning to contemplate the year ahead and how the new term might look 😍

For anyone who doesn't yet know, here's an official announcement that there are now 4 weekly opportunities to join me and sing, plus one off events on Fridays and weekends.

I've finally learned that there is no need to do different repertoires for every group and that people who come more than once a week actually appreciate the opportunity to get a deeper learning of the songs. It also means that anyone who signs up and misses a session has the opportunity to catch it up with a different group. So, the Tuesday and Thursday Gower Harmony groups both sing the same repertoire, and the Tuesday and Thursday Croeso Choir groups also sing the same repertoire (which overlaps quite a bit with the Gower Harmony songs).

This approach seems to be working well so far and it's extra awesome when two groups get together for the sharing events at the end of term.

So, I don't usually start back first week the schools go back in January but this year we are starting back early - Tuesday January 6th and Thursday 8th.

As I've started 2 new groups in 2025, there is room for new singers in all groups. If you're curious about joining us (or if you're already 100% in) you are invited to come along for a free no obligation taster session to see if it's right for you. All I ask is that you sign up so that I have an idea who is coming / how many to expect.

All the taster sessions (plus a couple of other one off events) can be found here https://www.facebook.com/katedaviessinging/events I'd love to see you there ❤️

Did anyone else catch the piece about the Sheffield Folk Carols on the BBC today? Here it is on play again https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/l0057qg2/the-revival-of-sheffields-traditional-christmas-carols including While Shepherds Watched to the tune of On Ilkley Moor .....

Croeso Choir and Gower Harmony will both be sharing something from this tradition at our end of term events next week - Tuesday 9th December Gower Harmony Sharing Event 12.30 at Linden Church West Cross and Croeso Choir Christmas Concert 7.45 in the Swansea Wellbeing Centre.

Events are both free - voluntary donations to charity.
