Here's update no.2 for Wonderland of the Rising Sun. This is my large-scale surreal Japanese themed piece. I've made a bit more progress and finished the block-in stage. So everything (near enough) has a coat on it. It's looking rough as guts at the moment, but that'll change after the next coat. This is where it comes to life!

Next up, I'll be going over everything again to get accurate colors and values. Don't panic, I'm aware it's looking far from good at the moment. Trust in the process, and I'll update you soon.

Here's my latest addition to the MindShafts. This one's called 'Tempus Fugit'. This one in my opinion is my most detailed thus far (it ought to be with the amount of time it took). Time really does fly and I wanted to include lots of hidden depth to illustrate that.

As a general rule, I don't like to go into big lengthy explanations of my artworks (with the exception of the wife - she's probably sick of hearing about them🤣). Meaningful pieces like this, I'd much rather leave open to viewer interpretation.

Anyway, hope you like it. The next piece is called 'Wonderland of the Rising Sun' ⛩. It's already been drawn up and now abouts to find its way to the easel where it will sit for a few months. I'll post some progress shots of it once its emerged from the raw phase.

Feeling a little lazy, I decided to repurpose a video from my other socials. This one isn't a new piece and has actually been scooped up by some of you already. However it still remains one of people's favorites when asked.

Whilst I've had many compliments on it (all of which I'm grateful for 🙏 ☺️) admittedly most people have no idea what's going on with this piece.

So I figured to address the mystery, I'd create a quick explainer video to clarify the activity of 'The Animals of Thieving Wood'. Now we can assume that everyone is on the same page, and I don't mean how to cook poor duck!

Oh Wow, it's been a whole year since I last posted. Clearly I'm not very good at this social media lark. Not that I've been sat on my backside with tea and biscuits mind you... mostly. In-between doing website stuff I managed to get a couple of paintings complete.

This is 'The Wandering Burden' which the idea came to me last December when the donkey advert came on (we all know the one😢). And as they were loading up these donkeys I remember thinking 'any more bricks and they'll have enough to build a village'... slight exaggeration. So I wanted to paint my own slightly surreal version of it.

Back again with the latest piece. Sorry it's taken so long, there was a lot of things to include! This epic battle over a pen is called ' Mightier than the Sword'. I'm not sure which team has the upper hand, but my money's on Staple dragon!

I'm now taking a brief pause to try and sort out the main website. Although it won't be long before I start the next piece. I've already started a few concept pieces.

Camel Mile Tea - This is my favorite and IMO most detailed piece so far. Despite that, it's also the piece that gave me the least trouble. Isn't it nice when things just go to plan?

I'm still in the middle of creating its backstory (gets pretty weird) however, Limited and unlimited edition prints are now readily available over on the site at www.mindshafts.com
I reckon I'll pick up a Limited myself in the event I sell or donate the original.

I'm almost finished putting together a promo site where you can get one of my current pieces for Free + shipping.
