Simply Me Creations

Simply Me Creations The name says it all - these are creations well simply by me. My crafting takes different forms and each day is a new journey.

Simply Me Creations is a small working studio where clients can attend workshops, book one to one or small group sessions and meet to discuss attendance or commission pieces.

Hi everyone. A couple of weeks ago I attended a meeting for local creatives and one of the suggestions I made was that it would be nice to have a local group where creatives could get together, find out about other creatives locally and be a support group sharing ideas, information and helping others who were on a similar path.

Today I set up a new group on Facebook - Goole Creatives Circle - and I would love any local creatives to join the group, let us know who you are and what you do.

There will be another meeting organised by Ryan from Goole Town Council and when we have a date I will post it in the creatives group so members are aware and can hopefully attend so we can move forward, accept help offered and become a self supporting group, organising our own meetings, social get togethers and just being there for each other in these difficult trading times.

Please click on the link above and add yourself to the group and let everyone know who you are and what you do. You never know, another group member might be looking for what you offer.

Its Day 5 of Small Business Week UK and its my last day in the studio this week. I have two VIG's arriving tonight - Very Important Grandchildren - so the studio is closed until Monday.

I would like to thank everyone who has supported me this week, who has been to a workshop, popped into the studio for a look see and who have liked and shared my posts this week.

New things are coming to Simply Me Creations over the next few months - including at last a new website where you will be able to see everything that is happening in one place.

But for now please remember to support your small businesses wherever you are. Not just creatives but as the nursery rhyme says your butcher, baker and candlestick maker.

Thank you again.

Good Morning on day 2 of Small Business Week. First let me thank you for your support yesterday. You are all amazing.

Today I'm going to give you an idea what will happen on Wednesday afternoons, starting tomorrow, at Midweek Makerspace.

The concept is for you to come along, choose a project you would like to make and take the time needed to not only learn the correct techniques required to complete your art but to do it at your pace.

This is not a one or two day workshop where everyone is making their version of the same project. It is a maximum of 4 people spending a couple of hours working on something, leaving it and coming back on another date to carry on.

It is myself, as a Certified Level 4 tutor, making sure you understand the right techniques and skills needed to create a lasting piece of art. It may not be your first Powertex Rodeo but I, as a tutor, need to ensure you are doing it right. If I don't then I'm failing as a tutor and you will not have that lasting piece of art.

I have been asked why pieces people have made themselves after seeing one of mine has not worked out. Their version of my outdoor creations that have gone outdoors and disintegrated because they had no idea how to make the base or armature, where the wrong type of clay was used for the embellishments, where they didn't wait until the piece was fully cured before putting outside, where they didn't seal mdf parts completely and many other small but absolutely essential pieces of knowledge needed.

Sounds complicated doesn't it.

But its not if you come to a session with a Certified Tutor, who has not only passed the courses but spent many, many hours practising their art, creating new workshops and working out all the kinks before they teach it.

I have been working with Powertex for 10 years now, 8 as a Tutor. I still learn with every new piece I make, I still push the boundaries of the Powertex range of products and try them in new ways. Some work, some fail spectacularly but I do it all and you get the benefit.

When you look at all that, wouldn't you rather learn from someone who has walked the walk?

Wouldn't you like to look as happy as some of my past and returning customers do when they finish their art?

Please keep sharing if you havent already.Let's get that wave going.Thank you.

Please keep sharing if you havent already.

Let's get that wave going.

Thank you.

I want you to help me start a wave on Facebook. Its something I dreamt up today and its so easy to do.

All you have to do is like and share this post. The more likes and shares it gets, the larger the wave will grow.

Hopefully it will carry on going and reach people who have never heard of me but who might possibly be interested in my art.

Thank you.

As a small business owner, marketing my services is down to me.

I have no PR department liasing with Advertising on the next campaign to bring me to your attention. No big budget to hire a production crew to create a super slick ad with a worm tune that gets in your brain and won't shut up.

But what I do have is YOU. YOU are the biggest advert my business can have.

I should make more use of YOU. I should ask YOU to write a review when you have been to a workshop, commissioned a piece of art or have bought one of my creations.

I don't.

I know its not cheeky at all, but it can feel it when I ask.

I still have imposter syndrome. I still think of that cruel comment to 13 year old me in art class. I still find it hard to believe people want to come to a workshop, that they like what I make enough to spend their hard earned cash to make it theirs.

The most important factor in my small business growing is YOU.
It is YOU writing that review after a workshop. It is YOU sharing my posts on your social media page. It is YOU telling family and friends about me.

So on day one of Small Business Week I am asking you to do that.

I am asking you to be my PR, my advertising department and my worm tune.

I can't pay you.

But I will be grateful.

I will see the results in the new people who check out this page, who begin to follow me and who might just book a workshop or buy a piece of my art.

I am shortly going to put up another post. Can I ask you to please start a Simply Me Creations Wave across Facebook by sharing the post to your page and ask your friends and family to share it too.

Thank you. You really are the best. Who would have thought a few fantasy houses would have taken me this far?
