This article from Neil Cooper in today's Herald shares further details about our closure and shows how radical change is needed to provide more secure spaces for artists.

We are on the hunt for a new building to make into our new theatre. Please email [email protected] if you have any leads!

Unfortunately, due to the sudden loss of our space, Theatre 118 is now closed for rehearsals, workshops and performances. We received just 7 days' notice to quit and clear out the space, which we managed to do thanks to the incredible efforts of 12 volunteers.

In less than a year, Theatre 118 has supported over 400 artists, welcomed more than 1,500 audience members, and hosted over 50 public events — all supported by volunteers and a commitment to keep making theatre accessible for grassroots artists in Glasgow.

We have secured storage for our equipment and are actively searching for a new home. Theatre 118 isn't finished — we're just between buildings.

To every artist, volunteer, supporter and audience member who has been part of this journey so far: thank you! We are so proud of this community and grateful for all your contributions. We’ll see you soon.

We'll share updates as soon as we have them.

That’s a wrap on Theatre 118 for 2025! For our first year as a baby theatre we couldn’t be prouder of all the fabulous work our community has created. It’s been amazing to see the place grow and develop with each production.

❤️ 424 artists supported
💜 9 workshops and artist development events put on
💚 20 shows staged
💛 1,551 audience members attended
🧡 1 stage built out of wooden pallets

There are too many people to thank and acknowledge for making all this happen - all our fab audience members, volunteers, producers, directors, technicians, performers, critics and everyone who has helped Theatre 118 along. It takes a village to build a theatre, and a million small acts of generosity and passion to keep it alive. Thank you, and here’s to the future!

We wish you all wonderful Christmas and New Year and we can’t wait to see what 2026 holds for our amazing wee community.

We are buzzing that our first ever panto, Jack and the Privately Owned Beanstalk, has received a fab ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review from Corr Blimey.

“Jack and the Privately Owned Beanstalk by Theatre 118 is everything a panto should be: wildly entertaining, fast-paced, ridiculous, outrageous, and most crucially ‘theatre for the people’. Advertised as ‘a pantomime for the rest of us’, this rendition of a classic fairy-tale takes a solidly working-class political stance whereby the audience boos the ‘greedy landlords’ and chants ‘no more rent!’”

Experience the outrageous panto 'Jack and the Privately Owned Beanstalk' at Theatre 118, tackling capitalism with humor and heart!

We are delighted that Becky Donovan's show, What's the Craic, God? has received a glowing ⭐⭐⭐⭐ review!

"As confessionals go, Rebecca Donovan has written a rites of passage that taps into the hormonal hunger of young women on the verge with a comic dynamism and an unfiltered frankness that could make a nun blush. Performed by Donovan in Georgia Nelson’s production for Theatre 118, Aoife is a guilt-ridden force of nature as she attempts to get through the increasingly complex every day growing pains teenage dreams are made of these days.
