When we were kid's, we would scour the streets looking for empty gingies (returnable glass juice bottles) we would take them to our local café or newsagents to get some sweets or an ice cream.
These paintings are a reminder of the good old days, before mobile phones and video games, set around the late 70s early 80s, when I was a child, spending summer holidays using our imagination and enjoying life without a care in the world.
Born in Govanhill in the southside of Glasgow, where I got my inspiration for this series of 5 paintings, some of you may recognise some of the places depicted.
"Gingie bottle's", " Ice cream cone's", "Bogie's", " Marbles", and "The battle".

Then, and, now,
when asked by The Rest to do a painting representative of my home village of Neilston , and make it old and traditional looking, I chose to paint the Crofthead Mill as it would have looked at the turn of the 19th century. It may have changed quite a bit over the years, but its history has had a lot to do with the evolution of Neilston and Barrhead.
I'm very proud to say that the original painting is now hanging pride of place in the Bar/restaurant in The Rest in Neilston.
If you're looking for somewhere new to go, with a charming atmosphere, beautiful food, and a great choice of menu, then try the new Travellers Rest in Neilston, you'll find it just on your left as you enter the village.

I can finally reveal a very special commission that's been a while in the making.
Painted for the very new, and very nice refurbished Travellers Rest in Neilston, 'THE REST'.
It represents some of the most recognisable, important, and familiar landmarks of Neilston, and is made extra special, as this is where I live.
I hope it will be recognised, and loved by everyone who visits the beautiful new premises.
Now open for drinks, meals, and also has a beautiful function room available to hire.
