Culture in Common

Culture in Common We support creative activities, events & clubs across the New Forest. Please let us know what you would love to see in your community!

Follow along to find out what’s happening and how to get involved where you live. Welcome to Culture in Common. We’re a brand new programme creating more opportunities for you to take part in creative activities in New Forest. Ever wanted to try pottery or painting? See live music in your own postcode? Bring a pop-up cinema to your backyard? We believe creativity should be for everybody and that t

he New Forest deserves more of it, especially as parts of it can feel a bit cut off, particularly after lockdown. And we want you to tell us what you’d like to see where you live and - if you can - to help us make it happen. From Totton to New Milton, we’ll be running a wide variety of creative events around the New Forest, so there’s bound to be something for you. You’ll receive a warm welcome whoever you are. And whether you’ve taken part in creative activities before or not, you’ll get the chance to experience something new and meet people you wouldn’t normally meet. Culture in Common is an Arts Council England Creative People and Places Programme - funded to encourage more people to take the lead in choosing, creating and taking part in arts and culture experiences in the places where they live.

Wow what a day

New Milton Lions, CODA artists and New Milton Youth Trust came together and created this incredible giant lion head 🦁

So much time, effort and creativity went into making it and it really shows

It was amazing to see everyone involved and to watch it come to life on the day

Huge well done to everyone who made it happen 🧡

It takes a forest 🌿

Here in the New Forest, it takes a forest of people to look after the animals and environment that makes it so special.

On World Environment Day we celebrate the commoners who care for land, animals, and traditions that sustain life together

This landscape is not just beautiful from above it is a shared responsibility.

ARTIST CALL OUT 🎨

The Four Doors Project is your chance to transform New Milton Station into something unexpected

We are commissioning individuals or collectives to create four large scale artworks inspired by local history, bringing real people and stories back into the space where they once passed through

Each piece will be installed on the station doors, designed as if these historical figures are stepping out onto the platform and into everyday life 🚪

This is about creativity rooted in place and made with the community, working with local people to shape and develop the work

📅 Deadline 16 July

📢 Public Service Announcement📢

We are excited to announce We’ll Meet Again: A Day To Remember, coming to Buckler’s Hard this June.

Featuring West End actors and local talent, this moving outdoor performance blends iconic wartime songs, live music, poetry, and real stories from those who lived through WWII - bringing 1945 vividly back to life.

Join us on 14 June from 3-4pm for this powerful tribute to the courage and sacrifice of a generation.

This FREE performance accompanies 'Buckler's Hard Trust's brand new exhibition Beaulieu River at War, marking the 81st anniversary of VE Day.

See you there! ⭐
