Stitching with a Cuppa – Thank You

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came along to Stitching with a Cuppa at . It was such a gentle and meaningful session—sharing tea, stitching, and conversations together.

This workshop grows from my tea bag cloth project, exploring how the simple act of drinking tea can bring people together. Sitting side by side, hands busy, stories unfolding—it’s these small, shared moments that stay with me.

I would really love to grow this into a wider community project—collecting stories, stitches, and connections through tea and making.

If this resonates with you, and you’d like to be part of it, please message me or leave me a note. I’d love to hear from you.

Last Weekend of DWELL

This is the final weekend of DWELL, and I’m so grateful to be showing my work at .

Alongside a selection of my landscape prints, I’ve also brought one of my paper sculptures into the space. The piece is made slowly—layered, torn, stitched—allowing the material to shape the form over time. It’s part of my ongoing exploration of slow making, where process, touch, and patience become part of the story.

If you’re nearby, pop in for a coffee, take a moment with the work, and enjoy the warm atmosphere of the café.

And if this way of making resonates with you, I’ll soon be running my Slow Making Lab – Finding Meaning with Material, a course where we explore materials, mark making, and stitching together in a gentle, reflective way. Course link in the bio👆🏼

Come by this weekend, and see the work in person.

DWELL – Art Meets Local

I’m delighted to be taking part in DWELL, a project connecting Worthing businesses with local artists.

I’m being hosted by the wonderful — a brilliant independent coffee spot serving seriously good drinks. If you love coffee and enjoy discovering art in unexpected places, do pop in and see the work while you’re there.

It feels special to share my work in a space where people gather, chat, and pause in their day.

I’ll also be hosting a small local connection event there on Thursday 12th at 2pm — a relaxed moment to meet, making creative stuff, talk, and share ideas.

Keep an eye on my stories for more details.

Deep January Drawing – Finding New Marks

Lately, I’ve been stepping into a different kind of drawing—working from photo reference, something I don’t usually do. I’ve spent years in the rhythm of life drawing, responding to the body in real time, but this shift has opened up new ways of seeing.

In the quiet of deep January, with music playing and charcoal in hand, I’ve been exploring how to find value, rhythm, and edge—trying out new marks, letting the drawing take me somewhere unfamiliar.

Charcoal has such a raw honesty to it. It’s soft and bold, delicate and strong all at once. And that’s what I love about it.

If you’re curious to explore drawing in this way, I’ll be running a charcoal drawing course soon—focused on mark-making, tone, and slowing down enough to really look.

Message me or keep an eye out if you’d like to join.

This week I collaborated with on setting up the group exhibition. After braving the rainy and windy weather, I'm reminded of the sunny coast of Eastbourne. Check out the showcase of paper sculptures, paintings, and photo images at , open for three weekends from today, 10:00-17:00.

I’ve been away for too long, I told myself. But honestly? I didn’t want to surface.
January is supposed to be the quiet month—head down, planning, drawing, drinking too much tea, sleeping. The studio becomes this dark cocoon, deepening with charcoal dusk, and there’s a resistance that builds when I even think about coming back up.
But here I am, blinking in the light again.
It’s strange, this pull between the depths and the surface. Down there, time moves differently. The world shrinks to just hands and paper and the sound of pencil on grain. Up here, everything speeds up, demands attention, asks to be seen.
Maybe I’m not fully back yet. Maybe I’m still half-submerged, one foot in the deep, one testing the air.
We’ll see how long I last before I need to dive again.

BE THE WATER WITHIN ME – Now Installed

The exhibition is now in place at the Foyer Gallery, West Dean College, marking the close of my year as the Mercers’ Award recipient.

Be the Water Within Me reflects on the fluid relationship between the body, landscape, and process—through ink, movement, and material. It’s about letting go, allowing flow, and noticing how water shapes us from within and all around.

Though this is a college-based exhibition and not open to the public, I still wanted to share this moment with you. I’ll be posting images and glimpses of the work over the coming weeks.

Thank you for all your support throughout this year—it’s been a quietly transformative one.

Tea, Stories, and Stitching – Full Circle

The tea bag cloth is now hanging gently under the dome window at West Dean College, just above the bar—and I couldn’t be more proud.

This piece began in the first year of my MFA, sparked by simple curiosity. I was exploring materials, asking questions through making… and slowly became addicted to both tea and the soft, fragile beauty of tea bag paper.

What started as an experiment has grown into an ongoing project about the quiet rituals that connect us. Each tea-stained square holds conversations, stitches, and stories shared over cups of tea—moments of pause, presence, and togetherness.

Now, this cloth has returned to where it all began. Hanging in the space that held so many of those first chats, first ideas, and the beginning of this journey.

Rain on Paper

Today I watched the rain fall onto the surface of the paper—each droplet leaving its own quiet mark.

There’s something about standing still and watching it happen… the soft tap of drops, the way they spread and soak, how they gather and disappear.

Rain can be gentle or wild. It can soothe, cleanse, overwhelm. It connects to rivers, to the sea, to the flow of everything.

What does rain mean to you?
