After almost 6 years away from the gigging scene, it felt good to be back in very familiar territory for a first rehearsal on a new music project this morning! Good times! 🎵🎶🎹

The final 4 results are in and they are all DISTINCTIONS! 🎵👏🏻🎵👏🏻🎵👏🏻

HUGE congratulations to Hazel, Ellie, Emily and Greta on each passing Grade 1 Theory with distinction!

These results indicate how well you all understand what is on the page of music!

Developing theoretical knowledge is critical to becoming a well-rounded musician!

I am super proud of you all!

🎹Planning complete!✔️🎹

My teaching timetable for the new term is now confirmed.
I was able to accommodate some requests for changes to lesson days or times. However, I was unable to meet every request I received and I apologise for that.
I am also sorry to those who are still on my waiting list. I will of course keep you advised if and when things change and spaces become available.
I hope everyone enjoys the final week of the summer holidays! 🎶🎵🎶🎵

Another 'congratulations!' 👏🏻 but, 'farewell'👋🏻 too!
This time to Val who is off to Art college in Edinburgh!
This young lady has a wonderful talent in the field of art! I have been lucky enough to see a lot of her work and be gifted several pieces from her, most notably a painting on canvas where she captured a very special time in my life! 🫶🏻
Val smashed National 5 and Higher Music SQA exams during her time with me and played at countless concerts too. Many concert attendees commented on her standout performances and looked forward to hearing her play! 🎹
Thank you Val, for all your hard work and I wish you all possible success for this next exciting chapter!

Here is my former student Matthew who graduated with a Masters degree this week in Business and Finance. 🎓👏🏻🎓👏🏻 Congratulations young man!!

It makes me particularly happy to know that Matthew still likes to play piano too! 🎹🎶🎵

I was delighted to receive this little clip of him tinkling the ivories whilst out celebrating his graduation! 🎶🎵🎹

Matthew joined me in the earlier part of my teaching career and remained with me for years, performing at many concerts and achieving some fabulous qualifications along the way!
I pushed him hard to achieve his Grade 5 Theory exam in the year he was leaving for uni - which he did!
Grade 5 Theory is required for any student who wishes to continue on to the advanced practical grades 6, 7 and 8 with the ABRSM exam board.
I reckoned back then that it would be good for Matthew to bank his theory passport for the future - just in case he decides to aim for another piano exam! 😉

I have posted before about Matthew and his wonderful parents when they gifted me an exceptionally generous Swarovski gift card and I was able to buy a stunning crystal piano!
