The very pretty town of Amersfoort in the Netherlands has the remains of church tower - The Tower of Our Lady - which dominates the skyline of the medieval town centre. The church body was destroyed in a fire and the area is a plaza for restaurants. Lucky to see this and create this image form a photograph at sunset on a recent trip to a visit a dear friend.

Views from Erith 6. A section of old abandoned decaying Pier. There are quite a few abandoned signs of the industrial heritage of this part of the Thames and London. This one can be a popular perching spot for local birds and along the bank to the edge of the picture you can see grass harbouring more creatures.

Views from Erith 5. The end of the Pier! The tides along this part of the Thames coming out of London leave quite a bit of deadly mud exposed. Piers were necessary for any craft of all but the smallest size to be able to take on goods and passengers.

Views from Erith 3, an abandoned crane caught between the River Thames and a modern housing development. Presumably the crane was too expensive to salvage from the area so it has been left in the redevlopment of the docks to stand, like a dinosaur, looking out over the river. Image by Stuart

Views from Erith 2 a view of the current Pier at Erith. Vessels, currently do not dock at Erith. The pier is a leisure facility used for walking, occassional events and Fishing. In this image you can see that the Thames tide goes quite far out revealing mud flats, which might support the weight of gulls but definitely not humans! Image by Stuart Smith.

Views from Erith 1 - an image of the 'Dolphins' off Erith Pier in London. These relics of more industrial times in the area seem to stand like guardians watching the remians of the docks. They are fascinating to study in photography. Images by Stuart Smith.
