Two lovely groups this week. A first visit (but hopefully not the last) to Wrexham Rotary, to share 'Aggie'. And a return visit to Shrewsbury Parkinsons' Group, who learned all about Katherine Plymley and her world.

Pictured is an anti-slavery medallion, made by Josiah Wedgewood - a friend of the Plymleys.

I had a really interesting conversation recently in the Derwen College shop, with a couple of ladies who were talking about Dame Agnes Hunt. Once was quite put out that she'd seen Dame Agnes referred to as 'Aggie'. I had to be cheeky and chip in to explain who I was and why I use such an informal name as the title of my performance. Having read Dame Agnes' autobiography, I discovered that her family and close friends all used her nickname. As so much of my talk focuses on her childhood and those close relationships, I fell into calling her 'Aggie' in my head as I was writing and it kind of stuck. Of course, to her nurses and patients, she was definitely Dame Agnes. But, as her own story reveals, she never lost a sense of fun - so I hope she would forgive me for taking the liberty.

As well as performing at the Ellesmere Arts Festival , I have recently taken my newest talk, 'Ordinary Lives', to the lovely folk at Hadnall History Group, and shared Eglantyne Jebb's story with Wem U3A.

Then today was a rather special performance of 'Aggie' for the League of Oswestry Nurses, at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Wonderful to share Agnes's story with so many who have been responsible for building on her amazing legacy.

With so many wonderful performances, activities and arts on offer at the first Ellesmere Arts Festival , it feels slightly unfair to single anyone out. But I would like to highly recommend Shaun Higgins' one-man show, 'Heroes in the Sky' - a celebration and commemoration of the very many who contributed to the Allied war effort in connection with the RAF, many of whose stories have been somewhat overloooked.
Inspirational, enlightening and moving. See it if you can.

This morning, as part of the inaugural Ellesmere Arts Festival, there is a chance to see 'Aggie - The Story of Dame Agnes Hunt' for FREE. The performance is at 11.45am at Our Space, but there are only a very limited number of tickets available, on a first-come, first-served basis.

But don't worry - if you don't make it today, there is a chance to see the performance at Theatre Severn on 18 July. Details on my website: www.ashropshirelass.org

This weekend sees the launch of Ellesmere's amazing new Arts Festival, and there is so much to see and do! Have a look at the website for up-to-date info on everything that's happening over the weekend: https://www.ellesmerefestivals.co.uk/

I will be performing 'Aggie' as part of it, on Saturday 2 May 11.45am at Our Space. But do be warned - I have been allocated a very small area, so there are only about 20 seats available on a first-come-first-served basis.
