The thrilling, dynamic and completely original world premier of the brand new musical ''The Shot Heard 'Round the World'' is coming to West Sussex in March. Written, composed and directed entirely by 3 sixth form students, Beth King, Lily Williams and Amy Scott, this production is loosely based on the life of Gavrilo Princip, the young revolutionary who delivered the fatal blow, assassinating Arch
Duke Ferdinand, the event that is widely considered to have triggered the start of World War One. The musical explores his life and how he became caught up in the nationalist movement, Young Bosnia. It is a profound story of passion for a cause greater than self; love and sacrifice. A more fitting commemoration for the centenary of the outbreak of World War 1 is difficult to imagine. The musical is opening the new Performing Arts Centre at Burgess Hill School for Girls on Thursday 13th and Friday 14th March at 7.30pm and Saturday 15th March at both 2pm and 7.30pm. The evening performances will end at approximately 10.30pm and the matinee performance will finish at approximately 5pm. There will be a 20 minute interval. The production has a cast of 27 extremely talented students from Burgess Hill School for Girls and Central Sussex College Haywards Heath. Written sensitively, the content is suitable for younger children, subject to parental guidance. Tickets are £10 for adults or £8 for concessions (14 and under or 65 +).
