Muchi Artisan Bindery

Muchi Artisan Bindery Handcrafted Fine Art packaging and albums that will last several lifetimes! Made with passion, special attention to detail and unique.

It's about time I introduce myself and show I'm a human. My name is Marisa, and I am an artisan who has an unwavering passion for all things handmade. Portuguese, spent most of my childhood in a city called Oshakati, located in the beautiful country of Namibia. Later on, I moved to Portugal and eventually to the UK. Currently, I'm residing in India.

You won't find many pictures of me floating around, as I tend to avoid the camera due to my belief that I always look weird in photographs. However, I assure you that I am indeed real! I find my solace in nature, but I'm equally thrilled to explore the hustle and bustle of big cities. As for my guilty pleasure, travelling is what makes my heart sing, and I'm always on the lookout for my next adventure.

My affection for animals knows no bounds. I'm always eager to discuss my love for my furry friends, and my excitement can be infectious, perhaps even a tad overwhelming. In a room full of people, you're likely to hear my voice as I am known to be the loudest person present.

Every year I get over-excited about this view and don't get tired of it. When driving around Scotland and I see this I tell my husband "stop the car". He always asks how many pictures do you need of a yellow field? Inspired by it I created this yellow and blue collection.
➡ to see some watercolour pocket size sketchbooks.

I bought this cork fabric many years ago. Right at the begging when cork fabric appeared in the market. I was passing in front of a haberdashery in Porto when I saw this shiny fabric "smiling" at me! I walked into the shop, asked the price 🤬 it was really expensive. Soon I was walking down the road very happy with a piece of fabric, I had no idea what to do with. It has travelled to India, went back to Portugal, made its way to Scotland and finally, gained a function and a new home.

Yesterday was Mother's day in Portugal. My niece asked me to make a box for my sister to keep her jewellery. She asked for a simple box with a photo on the lid. But nah... that wasn't challenging enough for me.

Another journal inspired by nature. My neighbour has bamboo in her garden, some of the branches lean into our garden. Looking at it every day got me inspired to do this journal.

When I started working in bookbinding I mostly done boxes for babies and I loved it. There is something magical about doing things for babies or small kids.
So when I decided to give this binding a try I remembered I had two small pieces of fabric with these sweet little bears on, left from a previous work. And so this A7 journal was born 😄

In summer time in front of our house has a beautiful meadow. I admire it every single day.
I tried to recreate its beauty in this Cyanotype.
Swip ⬅️ and admire the beauty of nature.
Note: All flowers and plants used are from our garden.

The colour red. When I was small it was my favotite colour. I once threw a tantrum in front of a shoe shop because I wanted some red stilettos 👠 that were in the window. I was 3 years old 🙄 and after all these years I still remember how beautiful they were.
