Since the week before lockdown I have been doing a lot of voluntary piping, round the streets of my home town, simply to entertain isolated people, visiting health/care facilities as focal points. People started sending requests to this Page or my personal Facebook, Tommy McClellan, to visit the elderly, the sick, young children celebrating birthdays in isolation etc. Thereafter, in response to t

he suggestions of many, a neighbour I had never met set up a fundraiser on my behalf which raised nearly ยฃ1000 from my rock-bottom fees, with one third going to charity. As lockdown eased, not wanting to impose myself too much on a community returning to normality, I significantly reduced my unsolicited activity, while continuing to visit care homes and the local health centre and remaining available for pro bono visits and regular engagements at slightly increased tariffs.
