If you’re in Edinburgh for the August Festivals, don’t miss our FREE outdoor photo exhibition in St Andrew’s Square Gardens in partnership with the Royal Academy of Engineering , ‘Engineering Better Lives’.

This exhibition showcases 50 engineers whose innovation has helped to tackle some of humanity’s greatest challenges. From radar and telecommunications breakthroughs to cutting-edge AI, wind turbines, and satellites, these engineers have shaped, and continue to shape our modern world.

We’ve been made aware that some authors have received emails from scammers impersonating Edinburgh Science staff, offering invitations to take part in the Edinburgh Science Festival. These emails can look convincing, and may result in requests for payment in return for a place in the Festival.

If you receive an email from Edinburgh Science, it’s important to know that:

• Official emails from Edinburgh Science will come from an .co.uk email address, never from a .com account. If you want to confirm that an email is genuine, or believe you’ve been sent a fraudulent email, please forward it on to [email protected].

• We do not charge speakers or authors to be part of an event

• There is no fee to propose an event as part of our Call for Events

The Society of Authors in the UK have written a useful article about similar scams, and offer information on the steps you can take to protect yourself.
