Offbeat Collective

Offbeat Collective Offbeat Collective is a new grassroots creative community. We’re starting with Offbeat Dursley and we want you to be part of it.

Our aim is to spark bold, playful happenings that bring people together through art, performance, and imagination. Offbeat Collective is a grassroots, volunteer-led crew bringing together artists, makers, performers, and local people to celebrate creativity in Dursley and beyond. We aim to run frequent workshops, talks and activities and Offbeat Dursley (our big-but-micro festival returning 6 June

2026). We believe in ditching the ordinary, making space for imagination, and putting creativity at the heart of everyday life.

No algorithms.
No subscriptions.
No notifications.
No purchases required.

Just stories.
Music.
Making.
Conversations.
Ideas.
Cake.
Rain.
Fish.

Maybe we've become so used to consuming things that we've forgotten how enjoyable it is to participate in them.

Offbeat wasn't perfect.

But it was full of people making things happen together.

And that feels worth paying attention to.

Maybe the real infrastructure was community all along.

πŸ’› Thank you Dursley Town Council and Stroud District Council.

One of the ideas behind Offbeat was simple:
What happens when we use our town centre for creativity, conversation, making, music, play and connection?
Thanks to the support of Dursley Town Council and Stroud District Council, we got the chance to find out.
The answer turned out to be hundreds of people coming together to share stories, ideas, skills, food, music, laughter and a surprising number of fish.

Community events don't happen by accident. They take belief, encouragement, practical support and people willing to back new ideas.

Thank you for believing in the idea, supporting the event and helping make it happen.

We hope Saturday showed just how much creativity, talent and community spirit exists in Dursley.

πŸ’› Offbeat was incredible. πŸ’›

There was joy.

There was creativity.

There was colour.

There was laughter.

There was rain.

There were fish.

And there was so much love for this town.

We're exhausted, if we're honest. Body and mind. It's been a full-on few months getting here.

But today we're mostly feeling proud.

A huge, huge thank you to everyone who helped shape Offbeat, support it, champion it and believe in it. You know who you are.

And thank you to everyone who came.

To those who listened to stories.
Who joined the laughter yoga.
Who made a charm.
Who added to the bunting.
Who contributed to the community rope artwork.
Who talked to stallholders, artists and community groups.
Who pulled a tarot card.
Who volunteered and pulled their sleeves up.
Who explored creative writing.
Who listened to talks and choirs.
Who persevered through the rain.
Who had a go at juggling, drumming or spin painting.
Who made a bookmark.
Who picked up a treasure hunt.
Who got their face painted.
Who came dressed as a fish.
Who danced at the Fish Disco.
Who bought a pint, a coffee, a sandwich, some cake or a pizza.
Who stopped for a chat.
Who stayed a little longer than they planned.

You were the magic.

Offbeat was never really about the programme.

It was about people.

We'll be sharing photos, stories and reflections over the coming weeks, but for now we just wanted to say thank you.

From the bottom of our hearts.

Food, Drink & Festival Fuel 🍴

One of the questions we've been asked is:
"Can I make a day of it?"
Absolutely.

Whether you're joining a walk, getting creative, listening to a talk, browsing the Show & Share spaces, watching a performance or preparing yourself mentally for the Fish Disco, there'll be plenty of opportunities to stop, refuel and enjoy some brilliant local food and drink.

πŸ• Pom'Adore Pizza Hand-stretched sourdough pizza cooked fresh throughout the day by local pizza hero Brent.

πŸ₯™ Gravity Greek Fresh Greek street food served throughout the day.dursley

🍹 Ali's Bar Special Offbeat cocktails available throughout the day: 🫐 Bramble 🌿 Elderflower Collins β›ˆοΈ Offbeat Dark & Stormy

🍻 Hopticians Independent local beers and drinks from one of Dursley's favourite watering holes.

πŸ” The Bank CafΓ© Food, drinks and a chance to recharge between activities.

πŸ₯ͺ Sandwich Station Fresh sandwiches, snacks and lunch options throughout the day.
Usually closed on Saturdays, The Sandwich Station is opening specially for Offbeat so nobody has to tackle a heritage walk, a workshop or a Fish Disco on an empty stomach.

β˜• Methodist Church CafΓ© Tea, coffee, cake and a welcoming place to pause away from the bustle of the square.

πŸ’› Stay for an hour. πŸ’› Stay all day.

Eat. Drink. Wander. Discover. Play.

Community events aren't just performances and activities.
They're conversations you weren't expecting to have.

A chat about bugs. An idea about climate action. A community project you didn't know existed. A challenge. A swap. A map. A conversation that starts with curiosity.

Pop into the Show & Share area and meet the people helping make Dursley a more connected, creative and interesting place.

πŸ’› Community β€’ Connection β€’ Ideas

Come and join the conversation. This Saturday 6th June, Dursley Market Square 11am (although activities start at 10am)
