It is with great sadness that we learn today of the passing of Brendan Hurson, brother of hunger striker and Vol, Martin Hurson.
Brendan was a wonderfully mild mannered man who was a beacon of common sense and honesty.
Through difficult times with the loss of family members etc, Brendan stood tall and gave great leadership and strength to all around.
When writing the play "The Martin Hurson Story" Brendan was an immense source of strength and support in dealing with the sensitivities surrounding many aspects of the script. Through out all the writings and productions he guided us and indeed the last three scenes of the play were practically written by Brendan himself. Without his support and that of the rest of the family the huge success of Martin's story would never have come about.
A very hearty man who loved nothing more than a good story and a bit of craic , Brendan will be dearly missed by all of us who were lucky enough to know this great man from Aughnaskea( Cappagh) in the hills of Tyrone.
To his dear wife Sheila and all the wider Hurson family circle , our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time.
You now Brendan can take your high seat alongside Martin and Francie and other members of the Hurson family sadly departed from this life. May they and the good lord welcome you with open arms. Thank you Brendan for putting your trust in us to tell the sad and tragic story of your dear brother Martin. Until we all meet again Brendan, God bless
