The Seven Witches of Torryburn

A show inspired by real people and true events of the Scottish Witch Trials.

In a small coastal village gripped by fear, faith begins to turn into suspicion. As whispers of witchcraft spread through the community, seven local women, Grissell Anderson, Agnes Braun, Margaret Cowie, Margaret Dobbie, Elspeth Guild, Margaret Horne, and Christian May, find themselves accused of crimes they did not commit.

With the Devil believed to be among them, rumours become testimony, old grudges become evidence, and ordinary women are transformed into villains. Arrested and imprisoned together in the Culross tolbooth, the seven women are forced to confront not only the accusations against them, but the community that has turned against them.

Behind closed doors, the church, the Reverend, the accused and those who fear them become part of a dangerous struggle for truth, one where faith can be used to comfort, control, or condemn.

New writing. New voices. A forgotten chapter of Scottish history brought to life.

The song used here is “God Only Knows” which was Written by Ciaran Owens, Composed by Alia E. Torrie & performed by Arianna McCulloch and Ciaran Owens.

A story you won’t have seen before.
